2025-01-27 01:30:48 +0000 UTCThe ending with Ragnar having blood dripping down his face like he would be wearing a crown of thrones, and then lifting the cross necklace out of the water and putting it on, has some heavy symbolism

2025-01-25 12:23:50 +0000 UTCI love the ending of this episode for a couple of reasons, and because Athelstan is one of my favorite characters in the series, I found it fascinating how Ragnar said, 'I'm changed," and shortly after, Ragnar shaves his head and puts on his chain with a cross on it to honor Athelstan, who was bald when they first met, and also that when monks shave their heads, which we already know that Athelstan was a Christian monk, it's a symbol of their religious devotion, humility, and renunciation of worldly things. it takes a lot for a Viking to do this because In Viking culture, hair length and health reflected a person's status and honor, just like you saw Kalf started off with shorter hair and when he gained power and honor he let his hair grow. This is why I love this show so much there's so many meaningful things to catch !
