I don't know if you have been told this nor do I remember where I heard this but ghouls naturally go insane by the process of eating as, even though they are different species, the process of eating something that looks so much like your species makes you go crazy. It's the same thing that happens to human cannibals. It is also the reason cannibalism is so common between ghouls as they desensitise themselves to it. In my mind, this makes ghouls into a flawed species as they almost always go crazy unless they are a sociopath or are extremely strong willed. This is especially the case for 1 eyed like takizawa and kaneki who actually see eating humans as wrong, ghouls don't see anything wrong with eating humans but go crazy anyway due to their foods appearance.
