Rhaenyra has some nerve talking about “hiding beneath a cloak of righteousness “ when that’s exactly what she’s doing, hiding behind her daddy’s cloak and even being smug about it. Viserys also neglects his other children, letting Luke get absolutely no punishment for taking his own son’s eye and only caring about who called Rhaenyra’s son bastards. Terrible father to his children with Alicent, yet somehow only she gets blamed for how their kids turned out.

2024-03-23 16:28:33 +0000 UTCI’m TeamBlack but I’m glad you brought up Alicent’s POV bc it gets ignored and I have sympathy for her. Her “where is duty? where is sacrifice?” summarizes her entire arc, shes done everything that is expected of a royal Westerosi woman and plays by the rule and in the end what she gets is a husband that always yields to his daughter even when his own son Aemond’s eye is carved out and a stepdaughter that always gets what she wants even in detriment to others (Otto fired the first time for telling the truth, a random peasant getting murdered so she can marry Daemon, insulting all the lords on her marriage tour). Rhaeynra should have known its an uphill battle to the throne but everything she could have possibly done wrong she does
