HOTD Ep 5 Full

Were halfway through!

Comments

Criston is far from honorable he could’ve told her no if he cared about it that much.

VirgosGrooveXO

Yea that’s gonna be cool! I’m excited for that too. I hope we don’t have to wait 2 years in between every season like we did for this. You’re lucky you didn’t have to, kinda worked out perfect for you lol

Chaz D

Yes definitely! We’re going to do that one as it comes out we’re so excited to that. Open to it with other possible releases this year (if any)

Joel Minaya

That was my next question lol do you guys think you’ll react to the episodes weekly as the shows going on? That’ll be a cool different dynamic to not know everything before you guys

Chaz D

No worries! And exactly we didn’t want it to finish so soon especially with the new season coming so we finish a little closer to that release ☺️

Joel Minaya

Ok gotcha. I didn’t realize that. Makes sense tho bc I def noticed that they didn’t seem to be coming out as fast as GOT was. Prolly a good thing though bc if you guys were doing 2 a week we’d be done with it already.

Chaz D

Sooo crazy!!

Joel Minaya

I love it 😭

Joel Minaya

He sure did!

Joel Minaya

House of dragon only comes out on saturdays

Joel Minaya

Anybody know when we can expect episode 6 to be uploaded?

Chaz D

kevin frazier ew. you need to be on an fbi watchlist fr

RH

It wasn’t she was following her father instructions to console in the king

Kevin Frazier

Awesome reaction as always! I feel you Joe, but at the same time I don’t think Alicent had any choice in marrying the King or not. Between Otto and the King choosing her, I don’t think saying no was even an option.

Chaz D

Notice how daemon doesn’t stand when alicent enters the throne room lol savage

28:20-28:40, a big reason why the Kingsguard take oaths of celibacy is so they don't risk fathering children. The Kingsguard are sworn for life to devote their lives to protecting the Royal Family, to forsake any other potential conflict of interest like a lover, or a child. They are essentially married to The Iron Throne. As you both mentioned with the duty vs love thing, it's to protect against the kind of self-interested actions we see at every other level in the royal court. Some obviously take their vows more seriously than others. I think Cole took his honor and oath very seriously, as its the highest honor ever given to his family, but he couldn't resist the Princess lol.

From Alicent's perspective 1. Rhaenyra fucked Criston Cole and Daemon and her father got fired from the second highest position in the country for speaking the truth about it. 2. Alicent supported Rhaenyra over her own son and her own father for 4 years, and Rhaenyra turned around and lied to her on her dead mother's memory. 3. Alicent feels foolish for believing Rhaenyra, and it calls into question what else Rhaenyra is capable of doing that she thought she wouldn't do. If she could lie to the King and Queen about her "virtue" to protect her position, which leads to the Hand of the King being fired, what else might she do to protect her position in the future? Could her father be right that her faith in Rhaenyra is misplaced? Alicent feels she doesn't really know Rhaenyra anymore or what she is capable of. 4. Alicent is the Queen, so if the Heir to the Throne is having sex with a Member of the Royal Family's Sworn Protectors then it is LITERALLY her business. Rhaenyra having sex with a Kingsguard doesn't just affect her, it affects the Kingdom as a whole, and can have life or death ramifications. The last member of the Kingsguard that was found to have broken his vows had his penis cut off and was sent to the Wall, and he didn't even take the virginity of the Princess that the King and Queen have recently arranged a marriage tour around the Kingdom for. 5. Rhaenyra potentially getting pregnant outside of marriage can literally lead to wars, as bastards can create claimants to the Throne, and passing off bastards as heirs can create rival factions that question the legitimacy of that line. This is literally the scenario in Game of Thrones depicted in the War of the Five Kings. Alicent, as Queen, has a duty to protect the Kingdom from this potential scenario. Viserys as King has this duty as well, and even he says the previous King would have disinherited Rhaenyra. But he has his own personal reasons why he is choosing not to. 6. Alicent feels she has been a dutiful daughter, wife, and Queen, sacrificing her happiness, while she feels Rhaenyra gets to do whatever she wants without consequence. Alicent feels she is upholding the values of being a Queen, producing heirs, tending to a sick man twice her age, helping to arrange marriages, even supporting the current heir in public and private while Rhaenyra is making a mockery of her position as heir to the Throne, not taking it seriously and putting many people, like Cole, at risk of death for her desires. She likely feels deep envy towards Rhaenyra because of this. Alicent's children, by existing, are political rivals of Rhaenyra. Alicent has never tried to position them as political rivals, she has even flat out told her father that she believes Rhaenyra will be a good queen and she won't raise her kids to steal their sisters birthright. But to what end? Otto was just fired, Rhaenaya might be pregnant with a bastard from the Kingsguard, and Alicent feels naive. Otto's warnings of her children's lives being at risk if the realm rejects Rhaenyra seemed to penetrate deeply during this vulnerable moment of feeling alone, and feels truer than the faith she once had in Rhaenyra. When Larys told her about the tea, Alicent was likely wondering is she really willing to put her faith in Rhaenyra? To truly believe that Rhaenyra won't hurt her children if she felt the pressure? Does she actually still believe Rhaenyra will be a "good queen?" when Alicent feels like "good queens", like Alicent believes herself to be, don't get caught up in scandals like this? Cole's confession allowed her to finally answer those questions, choosing cleave to her Hightower colors rather than cleaving to her faith in Rhaenyra.

crazy that consensual sex is a sin but marital rape is deemed “good”. fuck otto, his lame ass speech was just about sabotaging shit it’s like a self fulfilling prophecy. but i feel bad for alicent and rhaenyra. so far they’re both just victims of circumstances.
