I’m ngl if Viserys would’ve let daemon marry rhaenyra I know there would’ve been WAY less problems when she became heir. Who would dare try it against daemon lol

2025-05-11 21:40:55 +0000 UTC@RandomRandom summed it up perfectly; Rhaenyra knows she has an uphill battle being the first female-named heir and she does not make it easy on herself (e.g how she disrespects the suitors, not recognizing that Alicent had her back and continuing to build on this relationship, etc.) She is reckless and not well versed politically

2024-03-04 15:48:06 +0000 UTCThis episode really illustrates how poorly Rhaenyra is playing the Game of Thrones. She doesn't seem to understand that this is a pivotal point in her political career, where she should be gaining allies and strengthening her succession. But instead of gaining favor with the great houses, she is insulting them. Instead of showing the realm why Viserys breaking tradition to name her heir is better than the alternative, she is making a mockery of her station as Princess and heir. In episode 1x3, when the ladies of the court are discussing the War in the Stepstones, Lady Redwyne asks Rhaenyra for her opinion, and Rhaenyra ends the conversation by insulting Lady Redwyne. Yeah it's a "yas queen" moment where she got a jab in, but at what cost? The Redwynes are one of the Great Houses of Westeros, with thousands of bannermen and a large fleet of ships. All insulting the Lady of this House does is get her a second of satisfaction at risk of alienating The Redwynes and ensuring they don't support her. Same thing in 1x4 when Rhaenyra is half-heartedly listening to her suitors in the Stormlands. She interrupts Lord Dondarrion as he is giving his pitch and cuts him down in a way that even Lord Baratheon says is "unseemly." It's understandable that Rhaenyra wouldn't pick Lord Dondarrion to be her husband because of his age, but why did she feel the need to humiliate him in front of everyone at court? This is obviously a great honor for the Lords of this region to treat with the Princess and basically shoot their shot, so they aren't going to have hard feelings by being turned down. But having the Princess belittle them? It does nothing but create hostility, when she could have used the opportunity to flatter the Lords, listen to their stories about their House, and create long standing friendships. Instead she cut the tour short, not caring about the thousands of miles a Lord might have traveled to speak to her for five minutes, and likely created a long list of Lords that don't fuck with her. Rhaenyra could have used these 4 years since being named heir to cultivate her cult of personality, to become "the realm's delight" as she is nicknamed, and ingratiate herself to the people that matter. But instead she has sulked in anger and defiance and cultivated an air of being above everyone else, claiming the common folks opinion of her doesn't matter, and that she'll just create a new order out of thin air when she becomes queen. And perhaps the ally she most should have been trying to maintain was Alicent, who has been trying to support Rhaenyra in the years since becoming queen. We saw in private moments of 1x3 and 1x4 that Alicent had her back. But Rhaenyra has just struggled to give Alicent any reason why she should continually support her ascension over that of her own son. Not when Rhaenyra seems incapable of doing her duty or sacrificing for the Kingdom, as Alicent believes she herself is doing. And that's before we add the brothel rumors or her having an illicit affair with a sworn member of the Kingsguard. I love Rhaenyra as a character, and support her hot girl summer moments and fiery spirit, but it's hard not to see political blunder after political blunder on rewatch. Viserys has warned her to shore up her succession, The Queen That Never Was has warned her of the difficulty of a woman ascending the Throne, and even Daemon directly showed her in this episode what the people think of her. But Rhaenyra hasn't taken any steps to strengthen her position. In fact, most of her actions have only weakened it. It's not just a bad look for Rhaenyra, but King Viserys too, since this is his chosen heir. It makes him look foolish, like he can't keep his own house in order, when the one he named heir is insulting Lords left and right and allegedly carrying on in the bowels of whorehouses. It's like, THIS is the heir we're breaking tradition for? That is why Viserys said perception matters more than the truth and that they both have to suffer the consequences of her actions.

2024-03-04 13:47:31 +0000 UTCDaemon's plan in taking Rhaenyra to the brothel was for them to be seen together so he could ruin her reputation. This is why he took her disguise off as soon as they entered the brothel. He knows there are spies all about that report back to Otto (which is how they heard his "heir for a day" comment) so he expected this scandal would sabotage any efforts Viserys made to wed Rhaenyra to a Great Lord. Remember Rhaenyra's tour for a husband and future King Consort had been going on for months with no success, so Daemon saw his chance to make a play for her. Virginity and purity are important concepts in Westeros, so the princess being fucked in a whorehouse by her already-wed uncle would be disastrous for her reputation, not just as a Princess, but as the next ruler of Westeros. Daemon thought that by compromising her, Viserys might see no other choice but to let Daemon take her to wife. But at some point when Daemon was attempting to fuck her, Rhaenyra actually started to get turned on by the situation, and even looked like she was about to take control, Daemon had a crisis of conscious. He knew he was already spoiling her reputation, but couldn't actually go through with "defiling" her in a whorehouse for all to see. I kind of think he would have went through with it had he taken her from behind like he tried to do, but Rhaenyra is very strong willed, and when she turned around and forced him to look into her eyes, he lost the will to complete the act. But because Daemon is Daemon, the next morning he still tried to use the gossip of it to his advantage when he didn't deny the accusation and asked Viserys for her hand.

2024-03-03 11:26:42 +0000 UTCThis episode is so underrated, and you can tell it was directed by a woman with how sultry and how much of a build up the scene with Daemon and Rhaenyra was. 10/10 episode. Also, only game of thrones would have me shipping incest couples lol.

2024-03-02 22:13:33 +0000 UTCDaemon’s plan all along was to have them sighted in the pleasure house and for it to get back to Viserys to force him to wed Rhaenyra to Daemon, which is why he removes their disguises when they go inside. I don’t think his leaving abruptly had to do with any erectile disfunction, and that scene he had in episode one the girl asks him if he’d rather have someone with silver hair, so we can pick up that that’s his type from then. I think he left because Rhaenyra actually started to enjoy what was happening and wanting him, which he did not expect. I feel like he couldn’t go through with his plan and take advantage of her because he actually cares about her.

2024-03-02 22:11:11 +0000 UTCGreat reaction. Thank you. That is the dagger that the guy used to try to kill Bran. It’s called the Catspaw dagger. Arya used it to kill the Night King. It is inscribed with what happens at the end of GOT. It would have been cool if at the end of GOT someone would have heated it up and read the inscription. Viseryrs tells Rhaenyra a Targaryen must be sitting on the iron throne to unite everyone against the threat when it comes. That ruling the kingdoms isn’t about individuals it’s about holding it together to face the battle that could end the world of men. Jon fulfills that even if he wasn’t on the throne. He was Fire (Targaryen) and Ice (Stark) in one person. The song of ice and Fire. The writers missed out so bad by sweeping Jon’s Targaryen roots under the rug after the Great War was won. Sending him to the wall and letting the story end there. Fingers crossed that the spin off for him gets approved and starts filming. The screen we see the show on is very dark. Episode 7 — Half the episode takes place in the dark. It may be good to slightly brighten the screen a little more so it’s easier to see. Not a large amount of brightness but just enough that these dark rooms you can actually see the people and background better. Thanks.
