dragonstone is in the crownlands.. “According to a map of Westeros and assuming that it is to scale, someone worked out the distance as 420 miles/675km by sea; it is 100 miles/160km from Dragonstone to Sharp Point on the mainland, and then 320 miles/515km of traveling west along the coast to King’s Landing.”

2024-02-17 16:58:11 +0000 UTCI find it ironic that Otto and the small council compares Daemon to King Maegor the Cruel. While there are parallels in both of their relationships with their older brothers, that's as far as their similarities go. Maegor did not extend the respect he had for his older brother to his nephews. While he was willing to support his brother, he wasn't going to bend his knee to his snot-nosed nephews is what I think his mindset was like. Maegor killed two of his nephews and forced his neice to marry him. In this episode you can see Daemon having a chance to kill Rhaenyra but not taking it. He has a much more fond and familial relationship with his neice than Maegor ever did, gifting her valuable, expensive gifts like that Valyrian steel necklace in episode 1.

Sansa and Arya did not have a warm and fuzzy reunion because Arya was resentful of Sansa being on stage with Joffrey when Ned was beheaded. Also, you have to remember Arya was upset about Sansa lying and getting Lady killed. Once they arrived in kings landing Sansa and Arya were not getting along. The Bran reunion was cold because Bran was the 3 eyed raven he was no longer Brandon stark. As we saw when Meera was leaving he had no emotion and told her he wasn’t bran anymore. She said you died in that cave meaning his emotions and connections to people died with him. Varys had spent many years with Targaryens. I’m sure it didn’t take him long to see the traits they had in Danerys. That’s why Tyrion said Varys was right. Now his ashes can tell my ashes I told you so. Even Tyrion knew Varys was right in knowing that she had the ability to burn them all like her father. By Ned raising Jon that gave Ned the opportunity to take the bad Targaryen traits and make sure Jon did not grow up the same way. Ned lost his father and his brother, who were brutally killed, by Rhaegars father. Now he had Rhaegar’s son to raise and he was willing to ruin his own honor to protect John. Sending John to the nights watch made sure that John could never hold any titles. It kept John safe and also guaranteed he would never claim his place as heir. That’s why Ned was ready to tell Jon about his mother when he saw him next became John would be powerless to make his claim. In the books John has a twin sister Valerie. I wish the show would have used that it would have made it so much more interesting.

2024-02-17 16:23:17 +0000 UTCQueen Aemma and Viserys were cousins, her Targaryen mother married into House Arryn of the Vale. The more messed up part about Aemma and Viserys' relationship is that they married VERY young. Aemma was practically a child when she had her first menstruation cycle and immediately married to Viserys who was an older teenager. Viserys wanted a son quickly and tried to get her pregnant even when she was just 11 years old. The blame for her continued failed pregnancies is on Viserys I think, just because he couldn't wait until she was older to bed her. It's a sad part of Aemma's character that wasn't explored enough in the show. Tay's right about Dragonstone being close to the Narrow Sea, specifically between there and the Blackwater Bay, the Stormlands are nearby though Dragonstone is not a part of it.

2024-02-17 15:52:12 +0000 UTCThe kings first wife was from the Vale. Aemma Aarryn.An ancestor of John Aarryn from GOT. She was not Targaryen. Dragon stone is an island in the narrow sea. It is close to the storm lands on the coast. The storm lands is where the Baratheons are. Dragon stone traditionally is where the next heir to the throne resides until the present ruler dies. It was Daemons home previously but Viserys last episode named Rhaenyra princess of dragon stone. If you remember the lore videos Aegon the conqueror and his sisters were living in Dragonstone when he decided to conquer the seven kingdoms. This was after they fled Valyria before the doom. Rhaenys, Corlys wife is a Targaryen and a Baratheon. Rhaenys was the only child of the eldest son of the old king. Which is why there was a possibility she could be named Queen. The council named Viserys instead even though Rhaenys had the better claim. This is what she was trying to convey to Rhaenyra. They chose a man who had the lesser claim over her.
