2024-02-11 20:36:57 +0000 UTCNah, the king was wild for agreeing to kill his wife. It wasn’t just a matter of might as well choose the baby since the wife was going to die anyway. He okayed for her to be BUTCHERED to get the baby out. She screamed for them to stop. Even in the context of the show the decision was meant to be controversial and horrifying. She was the Queen and she died like that. The King was weak to allow it. That’s why the council plots against him…they know he’s weak. A stronger ruler would have figured out another way concerning the succession issue and have a better handle of his council. His problems wasn’t due from not having a son, but due to his mediocrity.

2024-02-11 15:11:53 +0000 UTCTbh I think he came off as a misogynist at first because he needed to establish his claim as the better choice between himself and Princess Aerea who'd been Maegor's choice of heir. Then he went on to set gender roles with his own children, in spite of Queen Alysanne's disapproval. It's also his environment and history that taught him men were the only ones who could provide the stability to the realm, when there had been no women who've done so before. So it made sense in his pov to choose a king over a queen.

The maesters had already said she couldn’t be saved but the baby potentially could. So why would the King not make the decision to try to save his baby and still lose his wife anyways. It was a terrible position to be put in but I wouldn’t say the King is trash.

Fun fact, there’s rumors that rulers who are not fit to rule will be rejected by the throne in the form of cuts, and viserys keeps cutting himself on the throne as a physical representation of the tole ruling takes on him but also it tells us he is not a great ruler. In the books, Joffrey also cuts himself on the throne. You guys should also watch the “inside the episode” little clips HBO released with each episode of HOTD. The showrunners take you through each episode in way more detail and they explain some of the choices they made in writing and directing. It’s fascinating and they’re all like 10 mins or less !

So curious, yall don’t have kids but before u have kids they ask at the hospital something happens during labor is mother or baby priority. They ask before because during w all emotions and stuff like that decisions sometimes may be irrational. 2024-02-10 19:41:15 +0000 UTCThe situation with the Old King Jaehaerys' succession crisis that wasn't made clear in this episode was that he only had grandchildren as potential heirs to the throne, with his two eldest sons being dead and his youngest son being an archmaester who had no interest in the throne. Rhaenys "Queen Who Never Was" is his oldest grandchild from his first son, while Viserys and Daemon are from his second son. That is why Rhaenys had a high chance of being heir, she's the only child of original heir, while Viserys and Daemon were from the spare. I'm so excited for you guys to watch this, Tay's reactions to GOT have been the most entertaining I've ever seen😂

What a great way to take us from GOT to HOTD. An ending and now a new beginning. House Hightower was mentioned in the lore videos in relation to their association with House Tyrell and Old Town if you were wondering how their family relates to GOT. Really enjoyed the reaction! How often will new episodes be released?
