2024-02-08 08:41:34 +0000 UTCTay, I feel you!!! That ending traumatized me. I refused to do a rewatch for years. I only started watching it again when you guys did your reactions lol. I agree with everything you guys said. Jon’s ending just hurt my heart after all he sacrificed for everyone. He should have been King even though he didn’t want it. His character is so noble that he would have accepted the responsibility especially after killing Daenerys and leaving a broken kingdom without a King/Queen. He would have taken on that burden. OR…I would have also liked If he turned down the offer to be King because he’s done more than enough. Killing Daenerys for the good of the realm/world was that last straw and it was his turn to do what he truly wanted…to live free north of the wall no longer fighting anyone else’s battle. He deserved to either be hailed as a king or allowed to follow his heart. But to punish him and send him to the Night’s Watch (that has no point anymore)…nah.

You don’t realize it but Barristan Selmy is the most needed character to keep the zeitgeist of this universe alive. And in the books, he’s playing a massive role in the connection of all the characters

Everyone conspired against Danny and played a part in her death, I hate that the show made it seem like he was getting banished to go live his days beyond the wall rather than actually choosing to be there. He was the happiest in season 2 being free beyond the wall and he’s always had a special bond with the free folk, this is supposed to be a happy ending for him because he never wanted to be king. I just HATE that it feels like a punishment.

In the vision the throne room is destroyed and it’s snowing, just like in this scene, and she reaches for the iron throne but never touches it, foreshadowing the fact that she’d take king’s landing but would never sit the throne.

It justifies people like Sansa and Varys who became incredibly suspicious of Dany simply off of “bad vibes” while ignoring what she sacrificed or trying to understand/make peace with her. Now none of that context matters, cuz the narrative just becomes “they were all right to not trust this crazy Targaryen”

They tried twisting Dany genuinely saving and liberating people in essos into a bad thing but it ain’t gonna fly. “She gotta big ego” ain’t convincing enough reason to make former slave/beggar/prisoner/assassination target Dany to forget everything about what she stands for.

2024-02-07 16:27:56 +0000 UTCDany was never going to rule or sit on the iron throne, There's been so many signs and foreshadowing in the house of the undying her own vision when she saw the iron throne with snow or "ash" falling on it and the throne room all destroyed notice she never reached it. She was never saw herself sit on the chair, just like daario naharis said, she wasnt made to sit on the throne, shes a conqueror. Jon stabbing Dany was him doing choosing between honor on one hand and doing what is right on the other just like master aemon told him there would come a time he had to choose
