2024-02-21 19:49:56 +0000 UTCSorry to spam comments lol, I believe 100 percent that Dany in some context will burn Kings Landing in the books. I think that is the major twist of the series. Problem is the show runners are just not grounding it in consistent storytelling. On the one hand, we have ppl like Tyrion trying to reframe her actions as the logical conclusion of her entire journey. On the other hand, the way she acts is so insane and delusional that it feels more like a complete break of character brought on by grief. The way she speaks in the s8 finale is like she doesn’t even fully comprehend that she committed genocide… so that speaks to her being disconnected from reality now.. it’s just a very very confusing and scattered way of bringing her story to this conclusion. The reality is that the show runners slap together these scripts in a matter of weeks before moving onto the logistics of making the show. The show is the single most complex operation ever made on Tv, spanning many crews across multiple continents…Maybe it was an impossible task… I mean, GRRm has been at the last book for 13 years and still isn’t anywhere close to being done. But whatever the case is, it was a mess.. a mess that has certain moments where u can see the masterpiece Greek tragedy that could’ve been

2024-02-21 17:06:56 +0000 UTCYou just can’t convince me any of this was well done or well written. We know they were doing tons and tons of last minute changes , even just on the cutting room floor. Emilia was given a completely different reasoning for why she was burning kings landing when she shot that scene…. So who knows what changed Around that. And we also know there were major changes with Cersei. Lena Headey mentioned that her favorite scene in GOT was a scene she shot for the s7 finale were Cersei was supposed to have a traumatic miscarriage. She was supposed to wake up surrounded in blood with her screams echoing through the halls. It was fully shot. The writers cut it out last minute which means.. even at the nth hour they were reworking major parts of character arcs. Just imagine Cersei coming into season 8 having undergone another traumatic loss of a child … completely changes her head space and probably her overall arc. She literally did nothing in s8 other than stare out of windows with wine and then die by cave in

2024-02-05 15:44:07 +0000 UTCPpl are mad because they wanted a happy ending but If this show has proved anything. its that there is no such thing as a happy ending, real fans wouldve known and realized that since they killed ned off. Dany was always going to be dragon queen, so many times we were reminded of that in the series, just like lady olena said - your a dragon, be a dragon, just like viserys said you dont want to wake the dragon, just like misendaie said dracarys, just like dany herself said so many times since season 1, she will take back whats hers with fire and blood. Dany was raped, defiled, exiled, betrayed , she took so many Ls, she was lied to, taken advantage of, she lost all the people she loved, she lost two dragons, she has no one no love shes all alone...what did ppl really think was gonna happen, honestly? Yeah it couldve been written better and it couldve been a masterpiece but george rr martin left the clues in the story.

2024-02-05 14:08:47 +0000 UTCI think varys was probably the most well intentioned/wisest character in the show. He truly just wanted the best ruler that would help the most amount of people.

2024-02-05 04:44:10 +0000 UTCJust when I watched again, I could see a bit more the possibility of Danny becoming mad. Season 7 and 8 were rushed, I don't deny it.

2024-02-04 23:23:30 +0000 UTCListen I know this is the ending that has been hinted at for so long with Danny, and I would have loved it had they given us the time to grow to hate her. She just essentially lost half her army to fight Jon’s battle and save the North with ZERO to gain and i’m supposed to believe that 2 episodes later she’s burning children and women alive? It would have been so interesting to get rid of Cersei and have Danny become the villain for a season. For the most iconic heroine of our generation to turn into a villain takes time, they tried to do it in 2 episodes when we’ve been rooting for Danny for almost a decade. It could have been so great had they given it one more season of Danny doing what she had been doing in essos, except this time she’d be executing people we loved and we’d grow to hate her. This isn’t out of character for her because she’s been threatening to burn cities to the ground since season 2, I just hate how rushed it was and i think it would have been epic television to see her brutality inflicted upon our favorite characters and for us to turn on her and see her for what she has been.

2024-02-04 20:28:12 +0000 UTCThis. You explained this perfectly. 1000% true you could see the love for power but if we saw her really walking the thin line that wouldn’t have made these scenes so hard for us!

2024-02-04 20:26:10 +0000 UTCI think Daenerys showed her love of power very early on, especially that scene when Khal Drogo promises to take Westeros back for her…killing women and taking children as slaves along the way. She was definitely excited by the idea if her ruling regardless of how she got there. She did liberate the unsullied and slavers bay but it wasn’t 100 percent for selfless reasons. She enjoyed the adoration and followers it got her. The creators just didn’t show this duality enough during the series and they didn’t let Emilia Clark know where Daenerys was ultimately going. Had she known she would have better played that role and subtly gave us more moments where we could see she was walking a thin line between right and wrong. With better writing she had the potential to be one of the most complex characters in TV history. Instead, we viewers saw mostly girl power who we were meant to root for. So when we did see this episode we experienced tonal whiplash with her character and felt cheated.
