The story goes that Hana was appearing in the reality tv show Terrance House: Tokyo, and after a verbal conflict involving another housemate, she received a bevy of criticism, name calling, and racial slurs (she was of mixed heritage) it all became too much and she took her own life. 3 men were taken in for the online harassment, The first showed no remorse, stating that he couldn’t forgive Kimura’s attitude on the program. Unfortunately, Japan’s online abuse laws were considered minor offenses at the time and he was only fined a mere 9000 yen ($80) the 2nd admitted to simply going with the flow of things online & he at least apologized in questioning. the 3rd was particularly heinous for posting hateful messages about her death. Then in June 14, 2022, Japan's parliament passed a law in which "online insults" were punishable by one year in response to Kimura's online bullying. Offenders convicted of online insults can be jailed for up to one year, or fined 300,000 yen (about $2,200) I also heard Ai’s case was inspired by an idol disfigured by a stalker. In the end the internet, fandoms, entertainment worlds, and people’s opinions and two-faces are truly horrifying and nauseating places & things
