I honestly think this plot point is the only reason Larcade had pleasure magic, to drive home the point they HAD done the deed. His magic could give anyone pleasure, he showed that when he used it on Yukino and Kagura. Instead, Mashima made a point to show the wide-range spell didn't affect anyone who should be pure (Team Natsu, and poor, poor Warren), and specifically showed it affected Mavis, and Zeref. He could have just had the first spell take everyone down, but he didn't. He wouldn't have included it if it wasn't important, IMO. A way to tell the story without outright saying it, and getting accused of FT being loli. The fanservice on this show is already off the charts, I can't even imagine what would have happened if Mashima showed how August was actually conceived.

2024-05-09 07:32:22 +0000 UTCI didn't mention this before because I can't remember if it is real, or fandom, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that Mashima didn't show too much during the "kiss" because he was afraid it would look troublesome because of how young Mavis's physical body is...you know... It's one of the reasons I assumed the kiss was a metaphor.

2024-05-08 06:37:22 +0000 UTCI guess it's how you interpret Larcade's magic. It is heavily implied that only virgins were not affected by his spell and both Zeref, and Mavis were. Unless you count the kiss as feeling the ultimate pleasure, and because it was probably both of their first kisses, that could be valid. The immaculate conception works too, because of all the magic involved, at least IMO.

2024-05-07 00:22:10 +0000 UTCThe thing is, there is still large debate about how August came into being. As far as we know, they only kissed, and Mavis then fell into her death like coma. Not sure if they actually...snu-snu-ed. But a lot of people say that the curses and love between the two caused an immaculate conception. Nobody but Mashima knows for sure. Also, Larcade was surprisingly young for someone around Makarov's age, cuz I'm certain a child wouldn't get long lasting youth or life, the parents were cursed, not the child. Looking back on Zeref's flashback, there were multiple broken egg cocoons aside from Natsu's. So, I guess Larcade was hinted at for a while.
