Fairy Tail Episode 315 Reaction!

You make a great point regarding her absorbing some magic when Erza was still in the womb

Angel Rodriguez

Oh yeah, Universe One was a continent wide spell which barely sapped away any of her magic power to cast, she enchanted actual personalities onto 2 random swords and made those swords semi-Spriggan level (arguably), and she enchanted Zeref's army of around 500,000 soldiers (it was a million at the beginning but I'll be generous and say half of them died) to be exponentially stronger than they were before; Irene's craziest advantages to me IMO are those crazy high reserves of magic power... sure, you can be extremely gifted in magic and do whatever you want with it if you're skilled, but if you have that much magic you can do literally whatever, like the scale of her spells is crazy

also, let us all remember exactly how powerful Irene really was, and why we are lucky she decided to stop fighting. That entire fight with Erza, where she called a damn meteor from the heavens, was done WHILE Universe One was still cast. Irene had enough power to rearrange the entire continent, AND fight Erza at the same time.

How, indeed

This. Irene had forgotten how much she loved Erza, until she smiled. She lost her humanity a long time ago, and the hatred, and insanity had consumed her over the last few decades, until she saw the smile. Irene wasn't a bad person, just like Zeref, they were both driven mad by their circumstances. Shit, I'm halfway there, and I'm only forty seven, I can't imagine living 400 goddamn years without losing it. LMAO. Also, this is my argument for "Erza is Erza". Her mother is literally the most powerful woman on the continent, and she stewed in her tummy for centuries. There is no way that she didn't absorb magic, in fact, I argue that is the reason Erza didn't need Ultear to unlock her second origin, it was there when she was born, thanks to Irene, and her magic. I mean, she was keeping Erza alive, and protected that entire time with a spell... This is the point in the final arc when some fans of the show say they jump the shark, and that Erza got an unexplained, or overpowered level up. I think, in context, Erza should be that powerful, knowing how she was conceived, and born. Anyway, I'm glad you are still enjoying the final episodes, Angel. There is another big reveal that is coming up, and usually reactors don't pick up on the subtle clues, but if anyone is going to, it's going to be you. TWO MONTHS until the new series starts!

The true reason Irene abandoned Erza was as she said; so she wouldn't kill her when she inevitably changed her mind. As to why it's hard to believe for you, I get what you mean; she actively tried to kill Erza several times during this fight. That's the thing though, she is crazy- it's extremely similar to Zeref. Their circumstances turned them insane. Zeref has the Curse of Contradiction, it's not possible to retain your sanity with that kind of magic because it turns your thoughts contradictory. The same for Irene; she endured the torture of being a human in a dragon's body for 400 years - no taste, no sensation, just like Baldur from God of War. That would definitely drive someone insane. When she finally finds a way out with a body she can enchant herself onto, you can imagine how she would be so determined to do so- so to counter that will and urge to enchant herself onto Erza, she needed an equally strong urge and will to act against that decision; and that will comes from her motherhood. Everyone knows that most mothers feel a very strong connection to their child due to carrying them for 9 months - well Irene carried her for ~400 years, which is 533 times longer than 9 months, so one would assume her connection to her child is that much stronger. It's the only factor that countered her insanity, which was her love for her child. Then, after she gave up Erza, that one factor of positivity in her life had disappeared, and all she had left was the dragon body that had tormented her for 4 centuries; of course she would revert back to being insane, hence her being one of the biggest antagonists of this arc. A lot of Fairy Tail villains have a lot of conflict as part of their character

I love that we didn't defeat Irene. She is, who I believe to be, the strongest spriggan, defeating her just would have been crazy. However, that's also extremely worrying; she fell only because she committed suicide, she still remained undefeated in death. So how the fuck are we going to defeat August, the leader of the Spriggan πŸ’€

Lukastace NovaSword

LMFAO I honestly thought she would do like a thousand cut with only one arm or go through it

Angel Rodriguez

Apology accepted 😊 BUT DONT LET IT HAPPEN AGAI- nah imagine lmao, just as long as my guy Jellal gets respect Also most people hate the Erza meteor scene... me personally, I don't hate it at all, but I'm just mad that she didn't so something like a thousand cuts like you said. Like that's a fucking meteor, and she can't even use both hands, y'all expecting me to believe she just poked it??? Nahhh
