Part of the worldbuilding that is just there and not pointed out in the anime is that self-driving vehicles are the standard in this world. They also have what are basically self-driving cabs for 2-4 people that you can catch at what would be a bus stop in our world. When Tatsuya tell Lina that she isn’t fit for the job there is no ill will or derision in it, he is truly concerned about her and think that a person as kind as her will eventually be broken by the military life and then thrown away once she became useless. The fight with Lina was actually one of the most dangerous moments for Tatsuya in the series thus far, if she aimed Heavy Metal burst at his head instead of his arm and managed to hit him that might have killed him. I say might because there is no precedence case. One of the ways to kill Tatsuya is to kill his mind in a single attack, Miyuki’s Cocytus does just that, Miyuki is one of the few people in the world with a surefire method to kill Tatsuya without fail. Well technically Miyuki’s Cocytus doesn’t kill a mind but freeze it but a frozen mind that will never thaw is basically dead. Now the relationship between a person’s brain and the mind in Mahouka is kept quite vague, and as long as Tatsuya’s mind is intact, he can cast regrowth, even if Tatsuya takes a bullet to the brain his mind will likely still auto start Regrowth. But what if it’s not just a bullet/partial destruction of his brain but his entire head is vaporized in an instant? Does that disrupt/destroy his mind before it can start Regrowth? BTW Heavy Metal burst is a Strategic class magic, Lina kept it’s output at a level reasonable for anti-personal use but at it’s full scale it can erase whole cities of the face of the earth.

2023-12-05 00:12:57 +0000 UTCIn Season 1, Miyuki explained to some of their friends like Mayumi, Mari etc how Tatsuyas Regrowth worked when he uses it on others, but she (naturaly) never explained about how it works for Tatsuya himself. Tatsuyas Regrowth takes him 0.02 seconds for a full body Regrowth on himself. It's even shorter when it's a single body part. (compared to reading the Eidos for other People which takes him 0,2 Seconds) To put 0.02 seconds into perspective, 0,25 (250) milliseconds is the average human reaction time. 0.02 seconds in milliseconds is 20 milliseconds. It takes us roughly 0,40 (400) milliseconds to blink. So he can "Regenerate" himself faster with Regrowth than a Human normaly can recognize this, which leads to them totaly confused what just happend. Also, poor Stars Soldiers and Lina getting hit by his Partial Mist Dispersion ^^
