2023-11-19 02:30:45 +0000 UTCSo fucking true, Laxus was an absolute dickhead, not just in his ego, arrogance, and willingness to murder his guildmates and a town, but just towards women in general like you said, and they still made me love him so much it's actually insane For Jellal it was pretty easy to get behind, and Gajeel did some super messed up stuff too but they still made us like him somehow Then Ultear... actively, of her own free will, murdering hundreds, and easily having done the most despicable actions in the show, and I love her too... I don't know how Mashima did it I honestly don't

2023-11-19 02:00:39 +0000 UTCThe Wendy vs Sherria fight is genuinly so much better than I expected it to be already in this episode. Given how many sick fights are in this arc, it really surprised me that I still hold this one as high as I do. Great fight.

2023-11-19 00:58:02 +0000 UTCIt's still absolute batshit insane to me that this show made me love Laxus, Gajeel, Jellal, Ultear and more. I realized early on they wanted me to eventually like Laxus, yet with what he did I was convinced I would never be able to like him. Yet now I love him. Laxus was so messed up towards women at the point of early Battle of Fairy Tail, even more so in the manga. He holds an entire civilian population hostage over a need for power, and attempts mass-murder with Fairy Law. + actively urging Freed to murder his guild-mates. And yes of course it was all for a twisted sense of wanting to protect the guild make it stronger etc, that doesn't rly justify attempted mass murder though. and the other characters do various degrees of even worse or slightly less insane stuff, but pretty bad. Yet all of them I have come to adore, and even more characters I didn't mention. And it's because of moments like this when he shows incredible growth to realize the guild is his family, and to actively fight for his family. No other show does better redemption arcs to me. Love this fight and love this moment.
