I agree that all those instances make sense as you laid them out. And to this point in the story I agree the power-scaling makes complete sense. And don’t get me wrong I absolutely adore FT. It’s by far my favorite piece of media, I adore it so much I watch some reactors I dislike because an excuse to watch FT makes up for it. The show just makes me so happy and I love all the characters. To such a degree I mostly pretend it has no flaws. However, from this arc on I do think power-scaling falls apart sometimes / the reason someone won a fight isn’t really explained properly by the show and only by fan-theories. Hard to give examples without spoiling Angel 😅 I originally included a couple examples with episode Numbers, but I really don’t want to give Angel any expectations, so editing this out :)

2023-11-18 23:28:08 +0000 UTCThat's also true, but when I think of canonically inaccurate power-scaling I think of Mira just because of that line I can't even lie lol But yeah I do get who you are referring to (I think)? Personally I don't think Fairy Tail's power-scaling has ever been bad or week, because honestly if you think about it Natsu's been weaker than almost all the main villains in the show whom he's defeated. Let's go through them. Natsu vs Jellal; Natsu was buffed through Etherion into Dragon Force, but Jellal was otherwise leagues stronger. Natsu vs Laxus; Laxus was tired out from going against Mystogan, Natsu and Gajeel, using Fairy Law, and likely from using Lightning Dragon's Heavenward Halberd, but in reality Laxus was still stronger at the time. Natsu vs Zero; similar story to him vs Jellal, he was buffed by Jellal into Dragon Force, but Zero was still stronger since Natsu didn't activate Dragon Force on his own. Natsu vs Hades; honestly this is the biggest difference in actual power I've seen yet, at that point in the story they didn't really stand a chance against Hades, it's just that his "Devil's Heart", his main source of power, was destroyed. Natsu vs Midnight is pretty much the only canonical instance so far where Natsu has been more powerful than the MAIN antagonist of an arc. Natsu's still been stronger than/surpassed several people he's fought such as Erigor, Gajeel, that Phantom Lord element 4 flame guy, Zancrow, etc etc, but none of them were main villains. Then there's one more villain at the end of this arc whom once again this applies to in my opinion but my lips are sealed there cuz spoilers. All I'll say is uhhh... "Rough Silk" lol All in all I don't think Fairy Tail's ever inconsistent with it's characters' power levels, it's just that some characters in the show overhype others lol

Without spoiling specifics, i'm sure you know what I am talking about, there are characters that I feel get done a bit dirty as they are power-scaling adjusted to set up our favorite characters. It's not really something that bothers me. But there definetly are certain fights I feel like certain characters shouldn't have won until later in the story with more training. Mira saying they couldn't do it together though is just wild. Even if we were to accept they were weaker than Jura at this point, both of them would be close enough that combined is just silly talk. But Mira is silly. That's what we like about her.

2023-11-16 12:01:14 +0000 UTCi respect it, yeah jura got insanely high. we don't know how powerful fairy glitter is since it broke the mpf, it could be 10,000 of it could be 100,000, but jura's score was high as heck. he's powerful, but mira has a tendency to overhype people 😭 "I don't think Erza and I could beat him if we worked together" GIRL SHUTCHO ASS STOP UNDERSELLING ERZA AND YOURSELF

To win/get 10 points you just needed to get more points than the others, so theoretically she could have just challenged 51 monsters since no one could get more than her. But nope, she challenged 100, CUZ IT'S ABOUT SENDING A MESSAGE AND PROVING THAT FAIRY TAIL IS NUMBER 1 Also that way the others got to participate in a new round altogether where Cana got the most points lol
