SAO was the first anime I ever watched, it's what got me into my journey of anime. it's forever engraved in my heart as my #1 and it makes me so sad to hear people say it's a bad anime, that it fell off. When I meet other anime watchers, the question "whats your favorite" always comes up and I always say SAO and I always feel judged because I love SAO and most people that I meet, either stopped after season one or tried season 2 and stopped and never truly finished it. SAO is a god tier anime imo and will always be #1 to me.

2024-09-05 21:27:01 +0000 UTCBTW in the novel they didn't break the Shinai (Kendo sticks), neither of them have that kind of strength, matter of fact once they collided Kirito lost his grip and the Shinai went flying off. Kirito is unathletic from the get go and recently got discharged form hospital after over a month of coma induced by sever brain damage, it's only natural that he is weak but the anime can't let him look weak.

The first movie is an outlier because the original S1 already adapted Aria of a Starless Night, they just butchered the hell out of it, everything after that is completely new and doesn't retrace anything that has been told before.

Also Season 4 is not in production, they will likely wait until Unital Ring is finished just like they did with Alicization.

2023-10-21 02:38:39 +0000 UTCfor me its season1 part1>ordinal scale> season 2 (yuuki) > progressive 1 and 2> season 1 part 2>war of underworld>aliceziation>season 2 part 1 i really enjoyed the only 3 episodes in the entire show we got to chill but i dont think you can really put them anywhere because its so different. But i do love all of the franchise. If you play all of the games theres another ~300h of content looking forward for progressive, it only has been a few months since they where in the cinema here in germany but it already feels like its part of season 1, i think you will like them

2023-10-21 00:02:57 +0000 UTCas maestro said, that wasnt ronie and tiese but their descendants. the inter-intelligence war, as far as i know, is part of the unital ring arc that i mentioned in my last comment. that teaser at the end with kirito's OG swords was for the progressive movie series which is currently ongoing (progressive is a retelling of season 1 with a larger focus on asuna's perspective. you definitely should watch those).
