The whole "Numbers" thing is that they literally have numbers in their name, e.g. Saegusa, written as Nanagusa, Nana = 7, Chiba Chi = 1000, they are basically a modern day form of nobility, powerful upper-class families with special responsibilities and privileges. Tatsuya commented on the glasses because most visual problems have been cured in their world so Glasses are either a fashion accessories or denote the person having a special condition. The students were surprised about the teacher because the general course 2 classes don’t have a teacher in attendance in the room itself (there simply aren’t enough teachers), they basically get the same access to information, materials and assets as Course 1 students, but they have to learn a large part of it through self-study and their own initiative (they can still ask teachers for help, but it mostly happens through their terminals (the desks they are sitting on) not in person). The "Guns" "phones" and bracelets are CADs, cast Casting Assistant Devices, basically modern day magic wands. There are largely two types, general types: Generalized CADs, which could store up to ninety-nine types of Activation Sequences without regard to the systems of magic, but place a larger burden on the user. These CADs have the advantage in versatility and are often used by magicians who can wield different types of magic. Specialized CADs they have the advantage with speed (over Generalized ones) but the number of activation sequences that can be used is limited. Specialized CADs can only store nine types of Activation Sequences of a single system of magic, and is originally intended for Magicians who are strong in select/specific type of Magic (from the 4-Systems & 8-Major Types). The Specialized CADs are often shaped in the form of guns as they have the auxiliary aiming systems incorporated in the area corresponding to the barrel. Co-ordinate data is input at the moment the activation sequence initiates, in order to reduce the calculation load on the user. They don't actually shoot anything. Also under normal circumstances general students aren't allowed to wear/carry their CADs on school grounds outside of practical classes. So wearing one instantly reveals you as having some kind of position in school, like being part of the Student Council.

2023-10-20 15:47:09 +0000 UTCSo just to give you a heads up, magic in this show doesnt work like it does in virtually any other anime. Like in the intro, its actually more like a form of technology/enhancement for humans. The concept for magic in this show is my all time favorite
