The woods north of Redtree

The plan this month is to try and stay focused on adding content to the area of the map where the player first spawns in. I've already updated the watchtower model and started placing some of the ruin tileset pieces from last month. There's still a lot of landscape and foliage work to do.

I'm also hoping to get a cave / dungeon set into the cliffside east of the road. The second screenshot shows my current progress on the cave layout. The major rooms and routes are done and now it needs detailing, lighting, and NPCs. I'm going to try and get everything to a first pass state this month. So, lots of placeholders and it will still need a lot of polish but hopefully the overall vibe and flow will be there.

And I'm chipping away at the never ending pile of bugs. The final screenshot shows the temporary fix for hair meshes and helmets. I'm just toggling visibility of the entire hair mesh for now. The eventual fix, when I go back and work on hair meshes again, will be to add blendshapes to support multiple helmet types. So for full helmets it'll hide the mesh, and for hats or partial helmets it'll squish down the parts that will be under the helmet but leave bits visible and hanging out. It's a matter of figuring out 1 or 2 categories for those partial helms and then sticking to those general shapes and areas for helmets moving forward. And then doing the grunt work of making the hair shapes.

But yeah, lots of environment work this month! And I'm also eyeballing quests and dialogue stuff... but I'm trying not to over commit. We'll see how far I can get over the next week!
