Some polish, some animation, and some magic!

Sort of a mixed bag this week for work.  I'm working on finishing up the Minotaur animation scene from last week.  I also picked up one of the Slime Girl scenes and started re-animating that to work with her new rig features.  It's almost ready to show off but I haven't had time to animate the facial expressions yet.

I also did some polish on the tutorial and beginning area of the map.  I'm trying to get better at mixing lighting and post processing to really create a mood.  Also added in sound fx and visual fx.  I haven't found a fog solution that I'm super happy with yet.  The volumetric stuff kills my framerate if I turn up the quality settings too much and doing alpha planes hasn't given me the look I want yet.  I'll keep messing with it though.   But the next steps will be to script the goblin and succubus encounters.  I was just doing a quick playthrough and I hadn't realized that the goblin could stun lock you so easily if she caught you in the corner.  

Oh and the spell casting system.  It's almost entirely working.  The first pass I'll probably give the player a projectile spell and a healing spell for basic testing.  There's a bit of funkiness when casting in a third person view though.  Projectiles will always shoot from the player's hand towards the crosshair.  This works out great when the player has a weapon ready and the camera is locked to their facing direciton.  But when the player doesn't have a weapon ready and they are running around the camera direction won't always match the character's direction.  If the player, for example, is facing left on the screen they can cast a spell and the projectile will shoot sideways from their hand.  It isn't a huge deal just a weird visual thing I never really noticed.  I went back and checked out how it was done in Oblivion and you can do the same basic thing but their camera always tries to face the character's direction and it takes effort to shoot a fireball sideways.  Just let me know if it's really annoying once you get to try a test build of it.
