Potential encounters for the maps:
The statues of warriors petrified during a battle have been standing here for 20 years now [30x30]
The continuation of a twenty year old battle
Near the road, our heroes spot a meadow full of statues standing around ready to fight, along with the skulls of a few more poor souls. Between the statues wander two lonely people. They are a woman and a man, both already in the autumn of their lives. They are interacting with the statues, drawing on their bodies with powder. When they become aware of our heroes, they explain what they are doing and ask our heroes for help.
During a battle in an unimportant war between two noble houses that took place here about 20 years ago, a mage cast a powerful spell that petrified part of the battlefield. The warriors are still alive but trapped in the stone since then. Now the man and woman are trying to unstone them with a cure. They have family members among the petrified. But their ritual will un-petrify all the soldiers at the same time, and some may still be so caught up in the battlefield in their minds that they just want to keep fighting. Also, some of the soldiers have been severely injured before their petrification, or have lost body parts in the petrification. Our heroes have the task of preventing further deaths.
If they agree, the ritual can begin and the reverse petrification can begin and many will continue to fight for their lives for now if our heroes do nothing.Especially a mage in a rush of power and a berserker will try to kill each other in a full battle frenzy.
Can our heroes prevent more deaths from a 20 year old battle?
A possible twist:
The older woman and the older man are the two nobles who fought the war against each other twenty years ago. They have long since reconciled and now show remorse for what they did back then.
How will the soldiers react when they find out that their friends died and they lost 20 years of their lives because of them? And what will our heroes do?
Giant spider nests can also be found outside of forests [30x30]
- Our heroes happen to find this place by accident and no spiders are present. Will they simply destroy the eggs? What happens if the actually peaceful-living, grass-eating cow-spider hybrids then return?
- Our heroes are here to rescue a kidnapped villager and kill the evil giant spiders. However, the villager is already woven into the large eggs as a brooder with symbiotic powers. If the villager lives on, he will spend his life incubating the young of giant spiders. Will he be allowed to live on?
- Our heroes accompany hunters who want to destroy the eggs. It turns out that the spiders are intelligent and endangered, and that the hunters are especially interested in the eggs, as their secretions can be sold at high prices.
A map if you want to reward the players for great adventures together or if you just want to drown them in quicksand of gold filled with mimic coins [30x30]
- Quicksand of gold filled with mimic coins
- The dragon that owns this hoard has claustrobobia and therefore avoids caves.
- It is a camouflaged carnivorous plant that has evolved to specialize in powerful and magically charged adventures
- The most successful and greedy adventurer in history has settled here. He didn't want to spend money on a dungeon or vault. Not even for a hut. He sits here all day and loves his gold and just the thought of losing a single piece drives him crazy.
Druid circle [40x40]
- Help druids perform a ritual.
- The powerful monster that terroizes the area is bound to this place. Here you can burn the hearts of wild animals to appease it. This is also the best place to fight it.
- Farmers are desecrating the stone circle and knocking over the stones to use them for building their houses. Will our heroes protect them against the coming disaster?
- Our heroes have the task to perform a fertility dance for money, because the druid has broken his ankle. But can they perform it while facing the fertility spirits?
Lava fissures in the wilderness [30x30]
- Here, lava creatures come out every night and set fires in the fields. Thus confronted claim that the farmers of the area no longer respect an ancient contract.
- Our heroes have been given the task by a cook to fill pure lava into a special container and bring it to him so that he can bake the perfect cake in a competition. But his competitors follow our heroes and are ready for violence.
- The earth is rumbling and angry. The local farmers pay our heroes to perform a sacrificial ritual here. But what happens when one of the boxes given to them by the farmers suddenly starts calling for help?
A pool of strange liquid in the wild [30x30]
- Our heroes discovered some heavily mutated animals in the area, which were attacking farmers in berserk. They can find their origin here. In the pool are some transformed animals, but they are peaceful and appear to be arguing in a civilized manner. They are about to lead another wild animal into the pool. They claim to be enlightened philosophers and to want to give reason to other animals and to research the solution to many diseases. But it's a 50/50 if the animal gets sane or goes insane and starts hunting humans. Will our heroes stop this or let it continue in the name of reason and madness?
- Our heroes will find some berserkers fighting here, slaughtering each other. It is a source of immortality. However, it only works as long as you are inside the pool and it is not portable.
- Several famous cooks are gathered on the surrounding meadow and ask our heroes to slay the monster in the pool. They want to collect the liquid and use it to create the best dish in the world. But the monster is the last of its kind and harmless to the world around it.
At the top of this hill, our heroes find a gigantic bottle with huge coins. Transportation of the treasure will probably be the least of their problems if they decide to open the bottle... [30x30]
- In the bottle lives a retired Djin, who has created a more comfortable living situation here than his tiny bottle before. If our heroes disturb him, he will quickly get angry and twist the first words of them to the bad. If they are polite and treat him with respect, he may even grant them a small wish.
- The giant who lost the bottle here will soon return here in search of it. But he is blind and asks our heroes to help him find his property and he offers a small finder's fee. If they try to deceive him and he still finds his property, he gets angry.
- It is unclear what the bottle is doing here, but our heroes are not the first on the scene. Two large bandit groups are already here and will soon be at each other's throats. Can our heroes prevent bloodshed, or do they heat the conflict up to make it easier to take out the survivors?
