A possible quest that leads here

"They are not the heroes this world needs, but the heroes this world deserves"

Our heroes have been assigned by the local city government to hunt down the evil vampire who randomly attacks people. He usually appears at night, seems to look for victims indiscriminately in the streets, beats them to a pulp and then slurps some blood from their throats. None of his innocent victims have died yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Our heroes' quest eventually leads to this cave, where they find the insane vampire sucking blood from the throat of the unconscious daughter of the leader of the city guard. The vampire is fully clad in sleek black leather armor. He recognizes the heroes as mercenaries from the city administration. He will quickly fly his prey to a higher spot, give our heroes one last chance to retreat, and then attack. In battle, he will fly through the cave with wide wings and throw some strange objects around him.

The denouement: If they can get the vampire to reason with them, or kill him and then wake up his victims, our heroes will learn the truth. The vampire is a fighter for justice and has collected evidence that the entire city has been hijacked by a brutal gangster network, right up to the city's highest level. The daughter of the leader of the city guard is his partner and lover and gives him blood to prevent him from harming innocent people.

If our heroes have killed the vampire, it is now up to them to pick up his mask and complete his quest.

If he's alive, they can work with him to rid the city of evil. But in the end it is still a vampire and our heroes also learn that he is doing this as atonement for having eaten thousands of people in his 600 years of life...
