A cave system that slowly fills with lava for heroes to run away from [30x56]

Here's a little map you can use the next time your heroes have successfully infiltrated a villain's lair and suddenly the whole mountain explodes when it's all done. I would also recommend not just to set the challange in running away from the lava. Spiece it up by dropping rocks and obstacles, and adding fiery enemies that can drag and hold your heroes. Let your heroes flee up this cave system and successfully escape from a fiery mountain. :)

My VTT i can switch maps, but the last few times ive done so, it has been a little....wonky. So i try to avoid phased battlemaps when i can...which is a true shame

What program are you using? Most, like Foundry or Roll20, usually have the ability to use a fog of war or set up walls. With a mechanic like that, you should be able to use the maps without revealing too much. Alternatively, even tough this is more cumbersome, you can place large black tokens over the respective part of the map and then move them as the player's view changes

See the program I use doesn't allow for rapid switching of maps, for this to work the lava would have to be organized as tokens to be placed on top of the map. The tokens can be hidden and revealed in sequence as the lava spreads, that's my only issue with many of your maps, is your maps have areas that give away more than we want to give away from the start.
