Let your heroes be attacked from elevated positions. If they want to defend themselves, use the lava puddles to let enemies rise out of them, who then try to pull your heroes into the magma.

A monster tip: Use Monster that can teleport themself and your heros with them
The Meenlock (Volo's Guide to Monsters p.170)! Adjust him so that he can teleport with one person in his claws. (To make it fair: He can only teleport a person if he has previously paralized that hero with his claw attack. In the same round he can then teleport) Adjust it so that the meenlock has fire immunity and originally lives in the lava and you have a fearsome beast that simply teleport into lava holes with your players. How long can they hold out there? This monster is incredibly dangerous because it also separates its victim from the group through the teleport. But it also makes for very exciting and fun fights!
