My punishment Essay

As some of you know I had to write a 500 word essay for breaking my drinking rule. This is that essay. It is a little under 500 words because I had to take a sentence out for privacy. Enjoy my silly essay.

Alcohol has been tempting man since its inception, and I am no exception. Many have fallen prey to her enticing abilities to lose ones inhibitions. While a little can lend itself to a good time, too much can lead to a dangerous path of poor decisions, addiction, and even death. I, but a lone babe in this world of temptation, can easily succumb to the tantalizing spirits. If only there was someone to lead me in the direction of moderation, hydration, and most importantly responsibility.

Alas, I am lucky enough to have someone in my life who has taken it upon themselves to give me the guidance I so desperately need. It was many moons ago when my issue of over serving myself made itself known to the general public. I had recently moved to New York City, the city of dreams, attractive cuties, and all the pleasures of life I most desired. Prior to my move I was but a mere college girl. I had grown accustomed to the ways of binge drinking every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and yes, even Sunday. From Burnettes to Bud Light Platinums my taste for bottom shelf booze knew no boundaries. A moment of silence for the damage my poor liver suffered during those years.

Back to the hero of this tale, Daddy. After several months of attending parties he began to notice my behavior, while not entirely dangerous it still had room for improvement. Showing up drunk to functions is never a good look, my only excuse was bad case of nerves as I navigated my way through a group of new friends, cliquey girls, and touchy strangers. And so a drinking rule was born. I was to ask permission from Daddy for a drink before consuming any liquor. At last I was saved from my misguided ways.

The most simplest of rules can sometimes prove to be the most difficult to follow. After several years I am still prone to slip up on this rule. Whatever the reason may be, may it be inconsistency in which they are followed up on, or simply a lack of judgment in public spaces, who knows? As I grow older in age my days of regular binge drinking are far behind me. While I do enjoy cutting loose once in awhile and my poor dear father, ahem, daddy, tends to go to bed early most nights it falls upon me to guide my path and hopefully stay on the straight and narrow.

It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you, reader, that I have had a recent infraction. While every weekend is an on going test, much like life, sometimes we fail. And so I have chronicled for you the steps that have been taken so that you may be caught up to speed in the saga that is my life and the drink. With a new day comes a new chance to be better.
