August Update

There's a few things I wanted to address with you all as we head into this next month, so buckle in and stay with me.

By now I'm sure you're all aware of Patreon's ongoing crusader against NSFW creators, despite their saccharine and eyeroll-inducing "we're here to support the creators!" drivel they constantly stuff into my e-mails. It's all a lie. Patreon doesn't give a shit about creators, especially not if they make smut. Several prominent creators have already been driven off the site by Patreon's fascist overreaching control in trying to dictate what they can and cannot do off-site, and many more have already voluntarily left.

Besides, Patreon is obviously falling apart. You may have noticed many more site bugs over the past few months, including poll errors and whatnot. In fact, I'm typing up this post right now in Notepad because THE FREAKIN' SITE IS DOWN, and Patreon won't even let me get to the New Post page. What a colossal shitshow.

So what's my plan? For the foreseeable future, I plan to stay here on Patreon until they come knocking and boot me out personally. At that point I fully intend to give them the finger and depart, but for now we're gonna stick with business as usual. In the meantime, I'm going to start looking into alternatives once the hammer drops. For now, I'm very likely to go with SubscribeStar. The only other options (that I'm aware) is Pixiv Fanbox, but that has several problems. Primarily it's a Japanese website, which means it deals with yen and currency exchanges. It's already hard enough to build up a following that's willing to support me, and I don't want to make any more hoops for you all to jump through (especially if you're dealing with non-US dollars). Besides, customer support also tends to be shoddy when you're dealing with cross-language translation and whatnot. And let's not even get into Pixiv's draconian censorship standards...

I'll try setting up my SubscribeStar page when I get a chance, and once it's up I'll post a link here so you can at least bookmark it for when this ship finally sinks.

Other than that, things are largely staying the same. I'm pretty happy with the polls and biweekly short story we got going right now, and individual patron prompts are pretty manageable. 

I've been interested in opening commissions back up for awhile now, but I've been dealing with a big backlog that doesn't ever seem to shrink. But my hope is that August will finally be the month I get it all done. Even after that, I may take some time to write fics just for myself so I can sort of reboot my passion for smut. But I'm entirely undecided, and there's no point making plans right now.
