well yes. That's what I meant by Haruno being forced to do what her parents tell her to do while Yukino isn't. Yukino has freedom because she refuses to do things she doesn't like—for example, not coming to this social event/her own birthday party in this episode. As a result, her parents put more trust on her sister Haruno, making life harder for Haruno and easier for Yukino.

2025-03-08 22:51:26 +0000 UTCI thought that Hauno's irritation with Yukino was more so because as the eldest she was forced into taking the mantle of succession. Meanwhile, Yukino had the freedom to chose her own path and yet still is trying to copy her sister. This made Haruno resent her. Granted, it's been a while since I watched the show so I could be misremembering.

2025-03-08 20:55:09 +0000 UTCIirc, the show's main topic is genuine relationship. It's not mentioned anywhere, but I think Haruno doesn't believe such a thing exists. She dismisses it as naivety, which is why she found Hikigaya interesting. He also dismissed it (at least initially) as vanity shared by his naive classmates, but he's also desperately trying to prove himself wrong. She finds this contradiction funny, and she wants to witness the moment he realizes and breaks. Yes, she's twisted. Like Hayato said in the show, Haruno ignores things that doesn't interest her, and breaks things that does. Haruno and Yukino's relationship is not explained explicitly, but I believe Yukino suffers from inferiority complex, a result of Haruno breaking things that interest her. Haruno finds Yukino boring because she's broken. She also hates Yukino. For one, Yukino tries to rival Haruno and keeps failing. And two, while Haruno follows her parents' orders and live a life devoid of genuine relationship (she has to put up with politicians, businessmen etc) Yukino refuses to be put to use by their parents. Haruno thinks it's immature and irresponsible.

2025-03-08 19:52:35 +0000 UTCI think Haruno is at max 20. She was year 3 at high school when Meguri (president before Isshiki) was year 1 or 2. Meguri is currently year 3 and Hayato is year 2. so total 2-3 year difference between Hayato and Haruno. Hayato is either 16 or 17. making Haruno 18, 19 or 20.
