Usually misunderstandings make me frustrated in any romance anime but for oregairu, I felt like they really are trying their best to be considerate to each other while navigating their youth

2025-02-27 00:34:25 +0000 UTCI think Japanese school years work differently from that of the States. Hikigaya is 17 now (his birthday was during the summer break) and his sister is 15. Yuigahama is also 17 but Yukino is 16. So is Hayato but it's his birthday soon. Yukino's sister Haruno is at max 20, because she was still at high school when Shiromeguri the president (now former president) joined.

2025-02-26 06:53:20 +0000 UTCIn the previous episode, Haruno called Yukino out for not doing anything so she takes it upon herself to try to become Student President. SHE WANTED to be the president. At the near ending where Yukino said to Hachiman, "I thought you would understand," you gotta understand that Yukino and Hachiman have been people who don't bullshit around anything. It's not that I think that Yukino specificially thought that everyone would be in the student council but Yukino was merely implying "Could you have faith that even if I become the president, that this trio relationship would not fall apart. It wouldn't be this fragile." By Hachiman solving the problem, the relationship stays at a status quo. (The same outcome with Hayama's group during the Ebina arc in the first two episodes of s2). Hachiman says himself that a person won't take action until there is a problem. Meaning that a person won't grow. This was something that challenged Yukino to make decisions for herself and Hachiman (untentionally) took that away from her.

2025-02-26 06:24:00 +0000 UTCHow did you come to this conclusion as to why Yukino was upset? When did she indicate or hint at the fact that all of them could've been in the council together? Did I miss an episode or something? If you could please elaborate on your point because I never really understood why the hell she was being weird at the end even on this rewatch.

2025-02-26 04:14:25 +0000 UTCI mean yes, but I'm not entirely sure. Yes, the problem of the student council was the focus but their core problem is still their misscommunication. If Yukino became president it wouldn't guarantee that all of them would be in SC. It's just a thought Meguri had. With their core problem unsolved it could be that their relationship would truly end there. The resolution they had was the right one? No. But that doesn't mean that the other was right. And as 8man said, if you were able to make a different decision from your past, it doesn't mean your life would change.

2025-02-26 02:25:01 +0000 UTCYeah...the show is, little by little, being more direct about Yukino's issues.

2025-02-25 19:22:18 +0000 UTCI think the sister is 14 going on 15 and Hachiman 16.

2025-02-25 19:05:12 +0000 UTCShe's ultimately upset because these kids are incapable of communicating with one another. Sheesh.

2025-02-25 18:58:33 +0000 UTCThe last scene pretty much showed us why Yukino was upset. The service club and their relationship would not have ended had yukino become president. The three of them could've been in the student council together and Yukino would've solved the problem herself. Things would've changed but it wouldn't have been a bad one.
