They translated it as 'hints' for some reason, but basically, starting rumors about them dating will now make everyone think about them and not forget them. Also, Futaba is basically saying that maybe their adolescent minds were just playing tricks on them, and actually, no one forgot her. Futaba gave a supernatural explanation based on some science, but she always hints that everything could just be the Adolescence Syndrome playing tricks on them. Adolescence Syndrome is basically believing you are the main character.
