The Megumin spin off series came out after the main story was finished, or close to it. Because of that, some of the stuff in the prequel was added in retroactively. A side note since you were trying to remember who you saw in episodes 9-10 of season 2. One character that you over looked seeing is Lady Wolbach, she was the woman that was talking to Hans that Kazuma was staring at in the mixed baths that ended up running off. Back in episode 6 I posted a synopsis about what's going on with the demons and Lady Wolback, but I don't think you guys saw it so I'm going to re-post it here in the hopes that you see it, it'll help clear up some of your confusion. Here it is: You guys are a bit confused about the dark god and all the demons, they don't out right say anything about them but they basically lay out the story and expect you to piece it together, so I'll break it down for you. At the very beginning of the show you see Megumin being saved by the "Elf Woman", that woman is Lady Wolbach, she is also the Goddess of Destruction and Sloth and she was accidentally released by Megumin when she was playing with that puzzle sphere as a child. The giant magical beast that Megumin saw Wolbach cast explosion on is her other half, which is actually Chomosuke's true form, this sealed Chomosuke back up again. As a reward for freeing her Wolbach taught Megumin Explosion magic. Fast foreword several years, Host and Arnes are looking for their Mistress, Lady Wolbach, this was complicated because the Crimson Demons had stolen her from the original spot she had been sealed in so that to could have a dark god sealed in their village because they thought it would be cool. Arnes runs into Megumin's parents who sell her a bracelet that is supposed to help her find what she's looking for but is actually cursed. Host actually manages to find where she was sealed up and runs into Komekko who just like Megumin did as a child breaks the seal once again, this releases Chomosuke who is now in the form of a small black cat. Host and Arnes are now hunting for Chomosuke because they think she is actually Lady Wolbach in cat form not knowing that Wolbach was feed years ago and that Chomosuke is just the diminished form of the other half of her power. Chomosuke likes staying with Megumin probably because she can sense her magical power and her potential for destruction, basically Megumin is the person most like Chomosukes true form, a beast of destruction. That catches us up to where we are now in the story, I hope this helps clear up any confusion you have.

2025-01-04 16:56:15 +0000 UTCMegumin was the one who originally suggested going to Arcanretia for some hotsprings relaxation when Kazuma and Aqua just wanted to laze about with their newfound wealth. So while season 2 doesn't directly show a bunch of teasers for the prequel it's left vague enough that it still makes sense. One can take Megumin heading off on her own in Arcanretia right away to mean she's going to see old acquaintances, and interpret her being traumatized after seeing the people of the town being her guilt at knowing she made them all even crazier than they already were.
