I get that Rhaenyra doesnt like the idea they believe Daemon is more reliable than her....but the fact is that having Daemon and Caraxes by her side definitely would help things. Both of them are weak by themselves. Daemon, unchecked and aggressive, making reckless moves that cost him the support of many. Rhaenyra, overcautious and inexperienced in war, unable to make calculated moves to strengthen her position. Both could cover for each other's weaknesses but divided, they are weak.

They sent him to ward(foster) at Oldtown, the seat of House Hightower. Not Criston's, just the last child Alicent had with Viserys. They also slightly hinted at Rhaenyra being inclined towards women as well as men in Season 1. Her relationship with Alicent when they were young was very close and physically affectionate, young Rhaenyra even saying she just wanted to spend the rest of her life flying on dragonback with Alicent travelling the world and eating cake. Not meant to be definitive by any means, but hinting at it.

Daemon can't run like he does and finally shows some growth by apologizing and getting to be there for him. If you notice Viserys takes off his crown at the end of his first vision, showing himself as a grieving brother not a king, one who Daemon abandoned when he lost his son and wife. - Alys was standing by the weirdwood tree with her eyes closed, and during her conversation with Daemon we see she has an owl she cares for. If you recall she referred to herself as "a barn owl, cursed to live in human form". 👀Think back to GoT - You have to wonder why Sylvie (Aemond's stepmommy dommy) is helping Rhaenyra in convincing the smallfolk to resent the Greens. It's very likely Mysaria and Sylvie know each other personally, maybe Mysaria worked for Sylvie at one point as a prostitute. - We see that Alicent was cut long her left forearm at the riot (you see the cut running down her arm in the carriage). That's the same wound she gave to Rhaenyra the night Aemond lost his eye and she attacked her with the king's dagger. It's like with the people chanting Rhaenyra's name as the rightful queen and attacking even the queen mother and queen at will, Rhaenyra is wielding the smallfolk like a blade to pay Alicent back for that first cut.
