2024-07-17 12:42:42 +0000 UTCAlso there's a lot of really cool details they added in this episode (in all the episodes really) that provide a lot of insight in a 'show don't tell' fashion: - that WAS Daemon, the person with the eyepatch Daemon saw in his Old Gods salvia trip. Also the opening scene with young Rhaenyra sitting on the Iron Throne mirrors Daemon in S1E1 when he was sitting on it. In his mind she quite literally took his rightful seat from him, while ignoring the fact that so much of what's gone wrong has been his fault. The fact he saw a version of himself with an eyepatch is his guilty subconscious recognizing how his toxic persona of a great warrior molded Aemond into what he's become. - if you noticed in the small council meeting where Aemond and Aegon "conversed" in High Valyrian, Aegon doesn't really know and isn't fluent in the language while Aemond is. If you recall from S1 Aemond, even as a kid, was the one taking his studies seriously and talking about how he would do his duty as a Targaryen. Him forcing Aegon to respond in broken Valyrian in front of his own council was meant to be humiliating.

2024-07-17 06:22:17 +0000 UTCSo I think some of the possible reasoning for Rhaenys turning back to fight Aemond & Vhagar kinda went over people's heads when the episode aired: 1. Rhaenys & Meleys had just beaten and possibly killed Aegon & Sunfyre (with Vhagar's help), taking out the 2nd largest dragon the Greens have. The rest are either much smaller and less powerful than Caraxxes(Daemon), Meleys(Rhaenys), Syrax(Rhaenyra), Vermax(Jace). So if Rhaenys can beat Aemond 1-on-1, the war could be decided then and there. The other largest dragon the greens have would be Dreamfyre ridden by Helaena. 2. Vhagar was one of her uncle's dragon (Viserys and Daemon's dad), then her daughter's dragon and now Aemond's. I'm sure she (you guys keep calling Vhagar a he in all the episodes for S2 btw xD, she's girlbossing while getting misgendered) evokes a lot of emotion for Rhaenys. Seeing a dragon that not only means a lot to the Targaryens as a whole but to her personally, ridden by someone who may have just become the new King (Aemond in the show is the current heir after his brother Aegon) would likely incite her to at least try for the kill. 3. I don't think the show included the scene with Alyn/Corlys/Rhaenys to make it seem like she's lost the will to live or wanted to intentionally go out in a blaze of glory. She mentioned in her conversation with Coryls "you did not think to mention it?" in reference to Alyn saving him, which means she already knew about him and Addam. She also treated Alyn with courtesy and grace all things considering, saying he should be honored and that his past isn't his own fault despite the fact she's talking about her husband's son from a sidepiece like this is an episode of maury. 4. This is less pertinent than the other ones but if she left she'd be condemning all the men and women in that castle, who are loyal to Rhaenyra, to death or worse. Either their castle is sacked and their swords(men) are added to Cole's army like with the other castles, or she can possibly save them and maybe even win the whole war. One last note, in the book according to the people's accounts of what happened, Aemond and Aegon ambushing whoever the Blacks sent was part of the plan. Rhaenys saw that Vhagar and Sunfyre were both there to ambush her and Meleys, and she charged at them anyway and died fighting. Her reasoning there was basically "momma didn't raise no bitch".

We the appreciate all powering through all the technical difficulties to give it to us. I really love that my guy Aemond is pulling such a strong, passionate reactions from y’all, particularly Morgan. Aemond better be careful, she might put a price on his head😅😅😅. This Dance of the Dragons is a tragedy more than anything, very Greek like in that regard. Also Vhagar and Meleys are both lady dragons. Shout-out to Sam for seeing the vision on Aemond 💚💚 This one of the React Packs top rank reactions.

Lines like these are one of the reasons Aemond is my favorite.
