2024-07-16 06:22:33 +0000 UTC38:28. Sage is big brain. The writing in this show has made her character very consist in her use of acumen to accomplish her goals. With her exceptional thinking ability, she realized she couldn't escape. So instead, she took a desperate wager, noting her own hyper regeneration and perceiving MM's mental state, more specific his vulnerability which she could spark anxiety from, thereby extension aggression as a natural coping mechanism. Then, she simultaneously put a thought into his head to look at hers and angered him enough to fire there with highly personal verbal attacks. She probably was hoping he'd move on with his mission and she'd revive in a weaken state after he was gone. Like Tanjiro attempting to fell Giyu when they first met, she bet everything on the future after she lost. That was a real high IQ move. You gotta hand it to Sage. In terms of wisdom, she really is one of the most formidable in the verse

Since damn near everyone keeps predicting and theorizing his demise, I actually hope the showrunners do something different with the character as that would become quite predictable at this point. But maybe that's wishful thinking on my part since he has become one of my favorite characters.

It was overly gratuitous, ran way too long, and was kind of unnecessary. The scene with Hughie breaking down with Annie crush me.

2024-07-15 20:44:09 +0000 UTCI'm 99% certain that the whole "Maid in Manhattan" thing - and Hugh Sr. being obsessed with old romcoms - is kind of a nod and a wink towards Hughie's actual parents being Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid. Both of whom were widely known for those types of movies back in the early-mid 90s. Meg moreso.
