When the newest shows don't win right away, many of them disappear into obscurity long before a reaction ever happens. I think Dungeon Meshi will obviously win this current poll, but I do wonder if it would have found the same success a year from now.

2024-07-08 15:56:31 +0000 UTC@Attack - I haven't personally watched Dungeon Meshi yet, but I've absolutely come across people who feel differently about the show. In fact, one of the biggest anime reaction channels decided to drop it early on because they were bored and didn't think it was worth reacting to. They'll be giving it another chance soon, though.

Still, if a reaction to X-Men '97 is inevitable, maybe the longer journey would be worth it. After all, like you said, they'll get more out of the show with context.

Mostly you do, I remember watching XMen when it came out but it was random eps, so they can def enjoy some of the elements in it but, when xyz says this line they’re prob gonna be like “oh….okay, did that happen in the old show” etc I loved XMen 97 even tho I knew small elements of the old show so they can def enjoy it but, I don’t think certain moments will hit b/c maybe they don’t know much about the XMen (which is not their fault)

2024-07-07 14:06:49 +0000 UTC@Jack - Well, I've never actually seen Erased, so it doesn't impact me on that level. It's on my list of shows to watch, though. I just feel badly for the people who have wanted a reaction all this time. Something similar actually happened with YaBoyRoshi and the show Banana Fish, which lost poll after poll after poll. It got to the point where Roshi felt bad for the fans who stayed loyal despite their show always losing, so he added it to the schedule after several years of people asking. I think that would be the only chance Erased has, unfortunately, which I recognize would be a very tough decision to make. They only have a limited number of time slots, after all, so they have to be mindful of what they're watching.

People tend to favor newer shows. Just to be clear, I'm not saying the newer shows are bad, but fans of X-Men and Dungeon Meshi haven't had to wait years like the Erased fans.
