This arc does not contain any relationship between the various pillars or especially with the recruits, ufotable is adding canonical "fillers" with the story. All of this content is creator-viewed content so it's extras that were supposed to be in the manga but unfortunately we didn't get it. We have ufotable to thank for these essential extras for us readers of the manga.
