Honestly, from here on out, I would say Beatrice acts more like Subaru's daughter than anything. Family at the very least.

2024-04-24 00:01:27 +0000 UTCThat’s the thing doe, being chosen is still being chosen. There was no contract, it was all just verbal. Echidna wanted Betty to choose on her own so Echidna still got to witness who Betty chose either way. It’s probably the reason she gave Betty a faulty tome of wisdom, she wanted Betty to choose whoever she wanted without knowing the future. Basically she wanted Betty to make her own choices rather than relying on her, her whole life. Sadly Echidna doesnt understand emotions so she didnt realize how much emotional attachment Betty had, or maybe she did and was trying to leave her so she can be her own person but probably never thought how long Betty would suffer. She tried choosing Subaru but was rejected. She never asked if Subaru is “that person” echidna was talking about, the way it is said has a different meaning (idk if the author realizes this or not or maybe it was poorly translated) she said “WILL you be ‘that person’ for me?” Hinting that she wants to choose Subaru to be that person that stays with her

2024-04-23 17:25:21 +0000 UTCI think it's more so that Subaru wanted Betty to separate him from the "contract" with Echidna. He didn't wanna be "that person" because that would be justifying Echidna's contract and giving it validation. He wanted her to make the choice of her own free will, not even having the contract on her mind, not giving Echidna the satisfaction that she was right and her wish fulfilled. It was ultimately about Betty's choice, not Betty's idea of what Echidna's choice would be. He's saying "I want you to choose me, not because the contract told you to, but because YOU want to."

2024-04-23 17:11:58 +0000 UTCNow that you’re aware of souls and the fact that you can transfer them and such(like what Roswaal did). Here’s a theory people thought of and some still think it’s true: We know puck had a contract with Echdina right? We see that Betty knew Puck way before Emilia came to the mansion. Betty calls puck “Brother” right? Puck also calls Emilia “Lia” just like someone in her past did right? So people think that Echidna created Puck(I agree with this part) and that she used the soul of a certain elf to put into Puck 👀(this part I dont believe as much anymore because of the S3 trailer. There was a character that caught my eye because she had a very close resemblance to that certain elf’s eye color and shape 👀)

2024-04-23 15:56:49 +0000 UTCRoswaal was studying Echidna’s knowledge about souls and stuff. Echidna had done research to find a way to transfer one soul to another body. Roswaal took her knowledge and did that to transfer his soul down for generations, idk if Echidna had knowledge of soul transfusion too but it kinda looks like Roswaal might have fused his soul with Hector’s soul? Or maybe Roswaal just found a way to strengthen his soul idk 🤷♂️ anyway, the downside is that not all vessels cant hold the original owner’s power sometimes which is probably why he has had to transfer his soul to a different vessel multiple times, each old vessel was probably too weak to hold him for long.

2024-04-23 15:51:13 +0000 UTCYea Echidna wanted Betty to choose on her own, to basically make her own choices and live how she wants. Which kinda makes me hate that portion of dialogue with Subaru, Betty LITERALLY says “will you be ‘that person’ for me?” LIKE BRO she was literally choosing you!!! AND YOU SAID NOOOO?? That was her way of choosing Subaru. Echidna told Betty that she will meet “that person” that Betty will deem worthy. It’s just so stupid 🤦♂️ It’s possible that Subaru didnt think he was a person worthy BUT then proceeded to telling Betty to choose him..BRO SHE FUCKIN ASKED U EARLIER TO BE THAT PERSON N U SAID NO WTF?? It’s like going up to your crush and being like “hey will you be that special person in my life?” And they say no but then later they come back saying “hey you should choose me to be with you” or “will you be with me for the rest of my life?” 🤦♂️ This is one part that i didn’t like how it was done, idk if maybe it was written differently in the LN? Idk but if it’s the same then I dont like how the author wrote that part out.

2024-04-23 14:03:47 +0000 UTCHope you all enjoyed the episode! Glad yous got to see Beatrice finally have her rebellious phase lol. As for this episode - there’s honestly not a lot to say, yous were pretty spot on with all realisations. I will say, just for clarification, Puck said to Roswaal that he’ll never be like that Devil - meaning Hector. You kinda picked up on it, but Roswaal has spent his entire life both in service to the Book Echidna gave him, as well as imitating Hector - both in appearance and speech patterns, simply to try and be like him. We’re not certain if there’s more of a connection between the two, as that’s theory territory, but we know Roswaal was at least trying to be like Hector. As for what he was doing to Ram - he’s siphoning Mana into Rams body. As you know, Ram is an Oni - except she lost her horn. Oni Horns are essentially another Organ used for taking Mana directly from the air, and without a horn as an Oni, you’re essentially living life with a disability that will kill you. By Roswaal directly providing mana where her horn once was, it allows Ram to live a normal life, and provides her body the Mana it needs to recover - at least a little. Btw, side bit of trivia here - if you ever wonder why everyone in Re: Zero are so strong in comparison to Subaru, it’s mainly due to Mana - there’s a state people can utilise known as the ‘Flow State’ that essentially allows them to power up their body utilising the mana they have absorbed via their gate or horn and amplify their body - hence why Wilhelm could do essentially superhuman acrobatics despite being in his 60’s, and why so many people are so physically strong, as Mana amplifies their default strength, again, to the point where Roswaal was able to punch through both Garf and Ram’s body with one swing. It also boosts regeneration, and recovery, hence why Ram likely survived. It’s a cool bit of trivia that actually provides an explanation as to why Subaru, who is essentially above average in strength (least in Earth terms) is essentially weaker than a child in this world. It’s a shame that it’s not really addressed too much in the anime - cut content and all - but it’s still interesting! Oh! And yeah, Frederica was naked due to her transformation. It’s possible she would have some clothes left on - but she chooses to rip them off before she transforms usually, whereas Garf is already barefoot, naked above the waist, and I can only guess has the sturdiest and stretchiest trousers known to man lol. Hope you all enjoyed the episode! Looking forward to the season finale, and take care everyone!
