I think he did it as a final goodbye to Netero, since Netero liked playing games too, and would have enjoyed all this. In the end Pariston made sure the best person to lead was Chairman (Cheadle) and got to have some fun.

Taking care of her is like when a sibling becomes the guardian of another sibling with a severe disability.....just the Hunter world version of that. Morel told Leorio not to tell Gon about Killua because originally Killua was going to tell Nanika to never return and disappear with Alluka.
