2024-02-11 21:38:53 +0000 UTCThat’s not the same thing at all. Canon material being skipped is different to a montage of metaphors that spoil and foreshadow what’s coming up. Especially when it’s the same every single episode. They’ve seen it once so, they don’t really need to watch it again if they don’t want to. It’s like saying that a recap should be watched every time because someone edited it and made some creative decisions in that editing process. Openings are very much optional. It’s just like actual filler episodes, where they’ve added full episodes of content that wasn’t in the source material

A director's inclusion of an opening affects the experience, what you're saying is no different than saying "that episode is boring so you should skip it", if it's there it's for a reason, if it diminishes the quality of the story then it's a bad decision but it's still their decision
