Every time I see this, Kraft calling Frieren young always stands out to me. So casually said but implies that Kraft is much, much older than her and makes you wonder even more about his past and the deeds he spoke of.

2024-01-25 01:40:16 +0000 UTCMy favorite thing about this episode is the one-on-one conversation between Frieren and Kraft. Specifically the framing and positions: it starts with them facing each other and furthest apart as she's disagreeing with his beliefs and as the scene continues the camera rotates and she turns until they're overlapping and she's not oppositionally facing him as she says "[Heiter] is in Heaven now." It's a really nice use of all those elements to show her outlook shifting

2024-01-25 01:32:32 +0000 UTCI didn’t watch the discussions before or after, but Heiter, when he said “Maybe my child will become a mage” he was def talking about Fern, y’all.

2024-01-24 22:58:05 +0000 UTCThe town name is German. That’s a German special character not in the English language, ß, and is pronounced like ‘ss’ so it’s Ausserst. Pretty much all the names in this show are German and have a meaning to them.

2024-01-24 17:58:30 +0000 UTCThe difference between Monks and Priests: Priests are studied persons of a specific faith that work for the church as leaders of a community/church. Quite often their education and the decision happens quite early in life. Monks are on the other hand layman that somewhere in their live decide to leave the "worldy" society an congregate in a monastry to live a life of prayer and service of a deity, or who also travel with the goal of doing "good works". Historically there are also many examples of Warriors, Knights and Soldiers who retired into monkhood. From that the clichee of the warrior-monk comes from in big parts.
