Subaru said he wasn't from that nation, and didn't know anything that was going on. I think saying Satella was a test to see his reaction, and saying "It's a nice name" made it clear he really had no idea she was a candidate.

2023-12-29 05:59:19 +0000 UTCFor your point on trust they saved the child AFTER she gave that "fake" name to Subaru. So you might be correct that she just threw Satella at his face to see his reaction. When you know "Frozen Bonds" you can understand Emilia more in episode 1 why she might do it.

But Beatrice's forbidden library or Beako's power really has powerful ability that I understood from this episode that I really didn't think about before.

I honestly think that it is just because he didnt really get her trust (even though it looked like he did after saving the child together) so she gave him a fake name to 1) Possibly scare him away with that name and 2) Hide her true identity because some might know she is one of the chosen to be the next ruler of the kingdom. I think this because later in episode one she says that she has something to tell him after everything is over, probably her REAL name Emilia.
