Cool details about the ending scene with Pitou: the shot where she turns around to see Gon and Killua is the exact same shot when they first meet at episode 85, she turned around in the same way. Except the power dynamic is the complete opposite: Back then Pitou was a deadly menace to Kite, Gon and Killua, and here she's a healer trying to save a life. Back then, Gon and Killua were in grave danger, and here they turned into the dangerous ones. This observation alone already tells so much about what Togashi's trying to say. There is a DOZEN of small parallels, repeated dialogue and mirroring scenes/postures in this final segment of the arc it's actually insane. I love the narrator. His way of depicting the events doesn't leave that much room for free interpretation, but it's very strategic. The author doesn't want you to waste time trying to solve the plot, he lays it out to you in a very poetic way (almost resembling a cautionary tale) in order for you to solely focus on the emotive aspect of the show. themes and character. Hunter x Hunter is such masterpiece when you learn how to tackle it, and that is especially true for the Chimera Ant arc since it's so different that any other classic shonen arc out there. Welfin is such a breath of fresh air to be honest. In times like that, you always end up falling into this dichotomic narrative, here the humans vs the ants, and having a third party trying to play their own cards in the midst of this chaotic encounter adds more depth and realism to the conflict and its actors. I love that you were already raising questions regarding Gon's reaction to Pitou's situation a couple of episodes back, because this will lead you to one of the key point of this arc's thematic and Gon's character as a whole. I'd love to expand on that, but it's still a tad bit early lol Anyway, glad I subscribed and I can't wait for your future reactions! Thank you <3
