In the manga, a future event between Gon and Gyro is teased, and we are told that Gyro, as an ant, was the only one with a strong enough will to leave the Queen from the start. This wasn't adapted because Togashi never got to that plot, and it wouldn't be in the anime. The same thing happened with some Phantom Troupe/mafia stuff, and Kite's appearance at the beginning of the series. The CA arc was concluded the day before the first episode debuted, which meant when they started working they had no idea Kite would return so not adapting that wasn't a big deal.

2023-10-02 03:09:48 +0000 UTCWhat you saw was Komugi’s Nen ability. I’m not sure what it actually is, but I know it’s triggering is similar to Kurapika’s chain abilities. In the sense that her resolve to end her own life is basically a men contract like Kurapika had with the dagger on his heart to only use the chains on the Phantom Troop. So I guess when she actually faces smart opponents her nen makes her smarter at Gungi. But the key thing is she doesn’t seem to understand that she is technically a Nen Master. When we first learned about Nen Wing said that many people can awaken their Nen abilities without even realizing it.

But if you go back to the scene where the king is talking to the royal guards on the patio you can see the bird in what seems like b-roll just hanging out around them. Then meruem gives his speech and the bird flies off. But if you remember wings very first explanation of what nen is then you’ll see that’s what the king is doing naturally. He’s setting his will to killing komugi. And then he uses ren. Which enacts his will. The power of the king sends the bird off flying to kill komugi. Since the king is so powerful his will is like a gravity and it’s sucks up those around him into it. And the bird being just an animal succumbs to it and flies off to do his bidding in that moment. Which is just one reason why ren is so dangerous in the hands of people without a good master and is just another example of why wing was so hesitant to teach the boys. You see throughout the series that animals have a natural inclination towards the world of nen. They can use zetsu they can feel bloodlust. Etc.

As she was dying, though, she told Netero, Colt, and the others Meruem's name. It's not that Meruem doesn't remember his name, the Queen never told him (because he killed her)
