It was mentioned that once the king was born a bunch of the chimera ants started roaming the earth, and a bunch of hunters were sent out. After Cheetu gets APR from Knuckle, Knuckle and Morel talk about how they're recommending a hunter to go after Cheetu. There were a few hunters that were out and about killing these chimera ants off-screen. One of them attacked Leol and his crew and that's why Leol went to Pouf. So yeah, you wouldn't remember Grachan, there's a lot of things going on in the background.
