Females during industrial era started to do much more cosmetics that were extremly leathel such as lead to get more white skin apeal. (ofc non of this prolly doesnt matter in fictional era)

The proposal itself was to unite the countries, it just so happened that the prince of that country was the same guy she fell in love with. Which is why she tried so hard to persuade her side to accept the marriage proposal. Im not entirely sure if the proposal was the prince’s decision doe if it was then that is so great 🥲 seeing how he belittled himself in the letters doe made it seem like it wasn’t his decision at first.

Also I think the marriage was arranged so the two countries can come to peace and a war doesnt break out? It just so happened that it was the princess and the same guy she met that one fateful night. It sounded like he didnt really think he would be a good husband for her and that she can probably find a better man than him as she gets older.
