Because most people speak in certainties. They say “The sub IS better” I.e instead of recognizing their opinion is a subjective opinion they write it off as fact, really not hard to understand if you use a modicum of brain power

Let's say you spend 20 years writing a manga, for it to be animated by a dedicated studio, to then be a collaberation between the studio and the manga artist to find the perfect cast of voice actors to fit each personality in the story from the perspective of the author. He has the final say. Then you have dubs, which in the majority is not done with any collaberation between the author and the often freelance voice actors. And you get sometimes positive results, but mainly generic results. I'm personally not passionate about sub or dub either way, I just watch the sub everytime to respect the source material

Light's dub voice actor is really cringy to hear lol. Other than that, the japanese VA on deathnote is one of the best lol. Light's japanese VA is 100000x better than the english VA
