They are considered spoiled if not, it could be an insult to their family. Neither seemed too excited for marriage. Alicent does what her father wishes and is shown to pick her nails. probably to help herself cope. Viserys is still grieving his late wife

In the first 2-3 episodes people were a little more hostile about Daemon, but then started to "froth at the mouth" after a bit. It is interesting how quickly that change happened though. And you're right, I think some of it has to do with him being Matt Smith. Some people have latched onto the fact that GRRM has stated he is his favorite character. He is one of the more interesting characters anyways.

His overly cheeky attitude garnered him quite a fanbase. I also think ppl really liked Matt Smith, the actor who plays him. idk I'm not British so I don't really get it.
