2021-08-29 21:41:58 +0000 UTCThe priest was trying to say that even love towards your child, husband, wife, family, etc… isn’t true love because you’re still willing to kill others for their benefit and survival (at least in this age). Thor’s didn’t embody that because instead of trying to kill others to protect Thorfinn, he chose to sacrifice himself so everyone could live.

2021-08-29 14:53:55 +0000 UTCAnd Canute has ascended to godhood! What a crazy couple of episodes! The second half of Vinland Saga S1 is honestly damn near perfect. Im gonna make this comment before finishing the discussion so it may be mentioned by one of yall but "a true warrior doesnt need a sword" and "true love" are connected. Canute was also able to embody that against Bjorn by calming him down without fighting and showing that love. The Priests death and true love connection is harder for people to put together which i understand. However the sense that his idea of true love is the same as the snow, the sky, the wind, and all that makes complete sense to me. Because those things treat everyone the same. Its interesting. Especially when you compare that to Thors who refused to kill anyone but instead chose to die to save his family.
