It's funny how in movies and tv for me now characters fall dead after a simple gunshot or stab wound, even if to the head. I should have never watched all those gore/cartel/terrorist videos online. You learn that the body really, really does not want to die. But I checked my suspension of disbelief at the door once giant monsters started spawning out of thin air in this show. Rest in peace to Erwin, who no longer has to be a slave and a devil on a mountain of corpses he sent to their deaths, even if it cost him his dream. Kudos to Levi for making that hard choice for him.

His intellect is definitely helpful, but I think Levi realized too that Armin looks forward to more in life, whereas Erwin just wants to go to the basement. Armin can push through more to get to these goals, erwins dream pretty much ends at getting answers. So as an end result its more useful to have Armin than Erwin, since what would erwin even be fighting for after he achieves the basement and getting answers. We cant know for sure, but that's how I saw it.

Him hange and Levi were the only ones ready to make the correct logical choice.

Armin was great but saving a child over a literal proven commander is a terrible choice. Although your comments on bertholdt are quite deluded, you said he was mean but he was never actually mean, he said multiple times that they were his friends but due to the cruelty of this world he is “forced” to kill them. Sam: you shouldn’t let your emotions cloud your judgement over the syringe, armin was logically the incorrect choice due to his inexperience, yes we want him to see the ocean but what is more important? Humanity’s survival or a 15 year old seeing the ocean?
