My Hero Academia, continue with SUB or switch to DUB?

Since you guys are the ones who support us, we will hold a poll! The poll will only be up for a couple of days so vote fast!

the emotion you get from the Japanese voice actors is just so important. they really get what kind of feelings they are supposed to be expressing and deliver it in a way that i dont think any voice acting short of FMAB Dub has ever been done for english dubs. its honestly makes the show for me

2021-06-13 01:25:36 +0000 UTCI'm sad I subbed to you guys after this vote! Well for what it's worth I feel the dub is better if you're more familiar with English than Japanese. A lot of nuances can be missed while in a language you may not be familiar with. Like if a character were to say something off screen, or if we get to hear a characters thoughts as a scene plays out and it bounces back and forth between 2 characters. Sometimes, for me at least, it's harder to differentiate some characters from one another because the VA in Japanese could convey all sorts of emotion that alters their pitch which sometimes sounds like other characters whereas in English I'd be like oh its just deku talking in a higher pitch cause he's MORE nervous than usual or something ya know? Also SOMETIMES the translations kinda suck and I'm left wondering like.... what did that sentence even mean 🤔 but I'd rewatch the show in English and not feel that confusion in that scene. Well anyways no matter what you watch, I'm happy to see you guys enjoying a terrific anime dub or sub 🙂 it's so good and you guys will love it!

2021-06-06 16:25:17 +0000 UTCIt should be assumed that most polls for dub vs sub will result in subbed (except for a few animes that Americans were first introduced to in english, like Death Note and DBZ). I think what's more important is what you like. Also, subs are generally harder to commentate over because of how fast the subtitles can go sometimes.

Especially when the American voice directors, (if they even have one), are forced to twist lines to fit the lip movement of the characters.

2021-06-05 19:45:33 +0000 UTCI’ve watched the subs and I feel a certain detachment from the show watching it with subs. English dub is where it’s at. Voiced by Christopher Sabat, All Mights English voice is perfection. Midoriyas voice fits him perfectly as well. For me personally I feel that having the voices in English gets me much more involved and invested into the story and dialogue, and I can definitely feel every bit of emotion in their voice acting, especially in the most hype moments. And lastly, I love hearing all my favorite voice actors pop up on various animes lol but in the end it all comes down the personal preference, and typically people like whichever version they saw first because at that point you already have a voice associated with that character. The poll has spoken for this show tho, but I hope y’all give the English dub of a future show a chance! Maybe something like Code Geass or Death Note... :)

Plus I like the sub better, I don’t like Deku’s voice actor in the dub. No offense to him, he’s a good voice actor but I like how the Japanese voice actor for Deku sounds better 👍🏼

2021-06-05 19:30:52 +0000 UTCI’d try the Dub for 1-2 episodes, see how you like it and then compare it to the sub. Me personally, if a dub is good enough, I tend to go with dub. I hate having to read subtitles and it’s easier for me to follow what’s goin on. But ultimately you guys should choose whichever is more enjoyable for your experience.

I would agree if yall said it to shows like FMAB, Cowboy Bebop, Inuyasha, YuYu Hakusho, and plenty others, but HELL NAH when we comparing it to MHA. Plus yall watched 9 eps already. Keep the sub.
