Developer Blog - April 25

Hi all,

It’s time for a monthly update before it’s too late and I end up missing an April one.

First things first, I’m still working towards getting as far as I can in Chapter 8 before putting Chapter 7 out there. I’ve still got a ways to go as the final few scenes are… something that I can’t say for spoilers. But they’re a lot.

I don’t want to keep delaying until chapter 8 is completely finished because, at this rate, you won’t be getting it until June. So, I’m going to put it out before I finish.

Chapter 7 has gone to the expanded testing crew; a couple of bugs were ironed out and many a typo fixed. It’s just waiting on one last thorough proofreading, and fixing whatever comes off the back of that, and it’s ready to go. Expect a release update sometime in the coming weeks.

And quick render count update for Chapter 8: We’re now at 1251. I’m expecting another 300-400 more before it’s done.

I honestly don’t have much more else to say in terms of development this time. It’s basically just more of the same. So because it’s so short, I’m going to shout out a few more recommendations for other VNs that deserve your attention from some friendly devs.

Actual Roommates by HanakoXVN

A complete one! (only just). Actual Roommates is a casual, charming and funny AVN that you can breeze through in a solid day or two of play. Full disclosure, you play as a lesbian female protagonist who moves into a new apartment, starts to build herself a harem and gets involved in a tiny bit of corporate espionage. Again, I repeat, lesbian FMC so there’s not a (real) dick in sight. If that’s not your thing, oh well... you're missing out I guess. With the game having only just been completed and Actual Roommates 2 on the way, now’s the time to give it some love if you haven’t already.

The Dragon of Calon Valley by Fire Valley Games

Here’s the game by friend of Origin Story, and visible Amber’s biggest fan (sorry, Invisovsky is still the invisible version’s one), Fire Valley Games. In the game you play as a man returning to his home town for a new job and after inheriting his grandparent’s home. There’s horny women everywhere, and whatever shit is going on with his old necklace and assassins trying to murder him is getting in the way of him getting his fuck on (not really, he does ok still). Description is vague as there’s only a prologue out so far, so I’m in the dark as to what’s really going on… but Chapter 1 is dropping this week! So, check it out.

The Beautiful Game by Daggum

This was recommended by a few peeps who are active in the discord, they know who they are. I’ma be straight with you guys. I don’t like sport, like, at all… but despite the very football/soccer-orientated storyline of this, I had a lot of fun with it. It’s about a hapless guy who takes a job as a sports scientist at women’s football club, where colleagues, players and old family friends begin to throw themselves at him. There’s a whole heap of different types of girls to pursue, and one particular scene that was right up my alley. Check it out.

Leaving DNA by Impious Monk

I’m honestly shocked that this game is as under supported as it is. It’s fantastic. You play as a well-respected assistant district attorney who gets involved with a murder case that is somehow tied to his father and meets a handful of well-written and beautiful LIs along the way. I will warn you that this is very much a story-based visual novel that seldom leans into the “adult” part of an AVN. But it is still absolutely worth your attention regardless. Plus, look at Jamie! Look at her!
