Development Blog - May 2024

Hello all!

It’s been a busy month working on Origin Story and I’ve made lots of progress. Firstly, Chapter 4 is now complete – renders, code, audio… everything. It will come in just shy of 700 renders which is only just a little more than Chapter 3, however, 3 had a few alternate scenes which beefed up the total number of renders significantly. Chapter 4 is pretty much linear with just one scene you can opt out of (and I very much recommend not doing). So, the runtime overall will be longer than 3 coming in at – I think – around 1 hour. I haven’t officially timed the runtime yet so don’t quote me on that.

In a couple of days I am having a much needed vacation but once I return, I will be pushing Chapter 4 to the testers/proofreaders. As long as everything is good, I aim to release it early July but the exact date is as of yet undecided. I have a very busy couple of months coming up so I’m trying to pick the best date between my IRL commitments so that I can be available to fix any issues that arise and just be around to interact with the community. Once I have decided upon a date, I will update you.

Posing Chapter 5 is also completely finished. Now I face the mammoth task of postworking all of it and coding in the audio. I didn’t want to do all my postwork in bulk because it is extremely repetitive and boring, but alas I got so carried away focusing on posing that now I’m going to have to.

Chapter 5 is coming in at just shy of 1000 renders. Full disclosure, there are around 40 renders which have 4 variations of each depending on a clothing choice made earlier in the game – you can probably guess which one and if you can, then you know which character this will entail. So really, the render total is closer to 850 if you discount the variations.

This is another fairly linear chapter with not much in the way of alternate scenes, and just a couple of scenes you can opt out of. Again, I would strongly encourage you to not opt out of any content or any girls if you want the full runtime (again, should be 1 hour, maybe more).

And yes, I said any girls. Chapter 5 is where you can decide whether you will continue content with Evelyn, Moonsong and (hold on to your butt Invisovsky) Amber.

Audio wise, I’ve had to locate another source of music and sound effects as Storyblocks no longer allows for use of their content in pornographic material on their new license, and I have no intention of reusing the same music I acquired on their previous license over and over. I have already subscribed to another source that does not have this restriction and pillaged them for music, it’s now just a matter of selecting the right songs.

Outside of all the posing I’ve been completing I’ve also been spending a lot of my lunch breaks writing a ton of content to include in Chapter 7 & 8. It turned out, that somewhere along my writing of these scenes over a year ago, I somehow completely missed a day in MC’s life. Given the circumstances he’s now in, it would make no sense to just skip a day and I couldn’t bring the content I had already written forward as it is all required to take place over a weekend. So, I have been writing some more scenes to include in this missing day… and boy are they good… if I do say so myself. If you’re in the few that picked Anna as your Isabella experiment choice, you will be rewarded. If you’re not, I’m afraid you’re going to have to wait your turn (sorry, my story doesn’t call for having Isabella reintroduced this early on, but her time will come).
